well how could i do it it's half metal and half wood
the top is metal.

get two peices of metal that can cover the edge so on the edge there is no wood. then screw the wood on 3 2x4s.

Well...I like that way..but I'd probably find a piece of wood that is the width of the rail....and make it about 6" long...and bolt that to the metal with some machine screws..then I'd simply nail that to the rest....(ie: the "stand")...hard to explain...
