I'm a 14 year old gurl who extremly wants to learn to skateboard and could care less if i am called a *****. I have a few guy friends who used to skate and were really good and a couple of guy friends who currently still skate but I dont want to ask them for help execpt as a last resort because most of them think gurls should NOT skateboard. I need help with everything including getting a board. I don't know how long I will stick with skating before giving up so I want a cheap one. The most I can to on a board is balance and turn right. I know that I skate goofy. I also bought some Adio's but this was before I wanted to take up skating. Are they any good? Please help a noobie out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-21:

It's rare for a girl to skate and stick with it for more than a year, but any girls that does, I really respect.
Anyway, just get a cheap board, and skate around. You should try to learn ollies, then manuals, then moving ollies. This will take about 6 months to get good at depending on how much you skate. It helps if you skate everywhere you go. Instead of walking to school skate...ect. Another thing, if you really don't want to ask your friends for help then you should buy an instructional dvd to help you out.....Skating is more fun with friends though. Good luck

Well i'm a begginer too but thats cuz i used to skate and stopped now im starting again. but Adios are awsum shoes depending on wat model and for a starting board i recommend the following types of decks: any toy machine deck and any Element fiberlight. the fiberlight is good cuz it really lighter than other boards and their is the featherlight but i think that one is too light u can find these things at [url]www.utilityboardsupply.com

yeah i'm kinda like that, but i've got a board. Actually i'm one of the few that do. Most of my friends don't have one, but still kinda want to learn. Just get a cheap board at like wal-mart or something, and if you like it then definitly get something else cause that board will probably snap somewhere. Have fun.

You can get a complete deck on Blankdecks.com for about 50 bucks.
if you dont have that much money your kind of shit out luck for a decent board, anyways i wouldnt get a walmart board or anything like that, it will make you not want to skate.

Just get a complete from some internet skate shop.
Toy machines are one of the best, but you don't need to spend 50 bucks for it when you could get something half the price and you wouldnt notice a diference. Blanks are good and cheap. I'd reccomend a blank board.
And there is an edit button on the bottom right of your post for those that double and quadruple posted.

Well if your gonna skate, I suggest stick with it, because girls dont have to get as good as guys to get sponsered. Which I think is very sexist, because Girls arent weaker than guys, just not many girls skate since it takes a lot of time, and a lot of work. I only know one girl that skates for real, and isnt a *****. I mean she skates like everyday, and does it for fun, not to be cool. Shes sponsered, and has been skating about 2 years I think. Shes alright, just she needs to work on learning some new things. Shes sponsered, by a bunch of big companies. But Im not trying to be mean, but Im better than her. I respect her cause she does it for fun. I do not respect girls who try to skate to be cool, they are usually pretty irritating too. Just make sure you dont do it once in a while otherwise you wont get better, just keep trying new things, and dont lose things that you have just learned. Adio shoes would be fine for learning. Just dont give up because you cant do something, dont get mad or anything, just work at it and have self confidence. I noticed a lot of skating is mental and your own confidence. As well as coordination, but that develops with time. When I learn tricks, I plan out where my feet would work best for the trick using physics and common sense. This doesnt start coming into play until you start going past the ollie.
Oh yeah, make sure you get a real board, dont get walmart boards. I didnt read the thread.
Good luck to you, and I hope you get good.

That is a fine set-up. Good Price, good stuff. Hell, I've been skating for 2 years and If I was looking to by a new complete I'd go with it. I'd ditch the risers though, and switch from thunders to krux.

I have nothing but respect for girl skaters, and i think anyone who thinks girls shouldn't skate is a dickhead! don't care about what people think just get out there and skate! (i would be if it wasnt pissing it down)

Fiberlights arent good for beginners. They get all squishy and weird after a while cause the fiberglass get worked so hard. Zeros are perfect, they are very durable so if ur down on tha dough, they last long to keep ya skatin. Blanks are awesome for beginners. They are cheap and last an okay amount of time. But id go with Zero as ur second board if u really get into it.

I would change the grip tape to Iron Horse but if you do get Iron Horse be prepared to buy new shoes. Iron Horse makes ollies easier because when your shoe is supposed to catch the grip tape to pull it upwards you dont have to make as much effort. REMEMBER it kills shoes though so if you arent willing to go through shoes try Black Magic but those are my personal favorites. You really cant ask people whats good too because its all a matter of personal preference.
