I'm looking to get sponsored, but I want to know if it's worth it. I here you get good discounts and if you're super good you can even get free stuff. I also here it kind of takes the fun out of skateboarding, like you have to make footage even if you're not in the mood and you also have to places if you don't want to. Are my facts straight? So what all comes with the "sponsor me" package?

I have no clue but if I could get sponsored I would and then if I didn't like it just quit and take the free/discount stuff.

it's entirely down to who sponsers you...you could get a real laid back company or some stupid agro team that have to enter loads of comps and what not the company i'm filming for are so cool it's rad... so much skater input it's the way it should be...basically the owner is down with anything we come up with and he funds everything...roll on summer so the trips can start

It all depends on the company you are sponsored by. I know a skater here sponsored by Globe and he has a shitload of clothes and shoes from them. But he says sponsorship worth it becuase of the stuff and money, but then you kinda sell yourself out and gotta skate as a job, not for fun. He said that skating is still fun, it's just that you gotta get these photos by that deadline and blah blah blah.

well... if you are lucky you get to have a super unrealistic videogame named after you so a whole bunch of people could buy it. 70% of which will be *****s 10% will probley get it free with a ps2 after the game is out a while and 20% will be actual skaters looking for something that has to do with skateboarding that they can do within their own home... yay tony hawk

i would definatly think getting sponsered would be worth it, just for bragging rights. It would be such an accomplishment as a skater.

You shouldn't just be into getting sponsored for the fame and the free stuff, you should be in it for the progression of skateboarding itself. My 2 cents.
(BTW, I'm diggin' the new forum format)

yeah, i have no intention of skating for a living, i skate for me
even if i did, the competition is so harsh since skateboarding is a lot more popular nowadays, like u get kids who have been skating even before they could hold thier own head up and pulling tre flips before their first words ( a lil exajuration but u know what i mean)
im not tell you to give up tho

the only reason i'd like to get a good sponsorship is for free set-ups and shoes...just cause i'm short on money...don't like the idea of being pushed into all sorts of stuff by a company though

chances are, u wont get paid. u just get free crap. and ure forced to gather footage that's worthy of the company's reputation. only pros and ams get paid. ya better find a good company to ride for. i got this info from a couple guys at ambush and ruin.
