I have no idea about the money side of it...but the merch is pretty righteous. But I would still be doing what I do even if I wasn't sponsored...it's about the skating and friendships that come with it and being apart of the lifestyle. Well that's how I feel about it. As far as others on this site that are sponsored...I couldn't tell ya...sorry.
Peace.

I bet if you were really good and won alot of tournaments and were sponsored by a good team, you could live of it.... maybe
unlikely though ( but the perks are AWESOME ) who can deny free stuff?

Unless you have absolutely no ambition to get anywhere with school or life in general, don't pursue something like a skateboarding career. I would go so far as to say less than a tenth of a percentage of the skateboard pros are able to live comfortably. Think about it, you are only able to skate as long as you remain athletic and relatively young. It's like being a basketball player with a fraction of the paycheck. Can you retire after working only 10-15 years? Doubtful. It's really sad to see some of the true skaters who just like skating manual pads and flat ledges struggle to make ends meet and get kicked around from team to team. In order to survive in the business, you have to have a gimmick. You've gotta stand out and shine like a diamond in the rough, and with skaters the caliber of Nyjah Huston around now, it's a pretty tough deal.
I skate because I like to, and it's fun. I don't go out to impress anyone but myself. If someone one day along the line decides they want to sponsor me, that's great. Until then I'd rather not be stressed out by trying to get my name out there. I stay in school, pursuing my career in Chemical Engineering.

I don't want to sound like Stalin, but you're never gonna get rich skating unless you get as good as Tony or Bob overnight. Pick a good career to follow and keep skating as a secondary thing.
