i went into a skate shop today and guess what.....almost all of the desks costed 130 aus.....spewin' ahwell ill keep loookin ...i soooooooooo want to learn how to skate and im scared that the boys will jus larf at me at the skate park if i ask them to teach me...all my mates have grown out of skating and it be a tad weird if i asked people that i completely didnt know to teach me the basics?!? its driving me crazy but i dont wanna look like a tool cos im a chick....ill feel as if people will just look at me as if im a ***** but ive wanted to learn since i was 14 and now im 17...it totally sux.....sumtimes i wished i wasnt a chick so i wouldnt have to be labelled!!!!!!!!!!
i ve' looked into blank decks...but i dont want my first deck to be heavy or breakable.....and i heard there pretty good 4 first decks!! and cheap....
i dont know if its worth trying or should i just forget about it....u can't imagine how much i want to skate....

If you want to skate that bad there must be a reason you came here and made this post. Sometimes you just need to foget about others for a second and do what you want to do. What's the point of doing something if you dont' do it for yourself, you'd just do it to make others happy? Go get yourself a cheap deck, go visit our skateboard trick tips (http://www.ramprage.com/tricktips/skateboard_trick_tips) section on Ramprage.com and start learning. You should look at the positives of not being a guy in a male dominated sport - guys will be triping over themselves to help you, trust me. Anytime I see a girl skater I give them instant respect for at least trying it. If you're going to do it though, dont' just sport the gear and stand around trying to look cool - skate because you want to, not because you want to be seen doing it.

Forget about the other guys just skate and have fun with it, mature people will see and respect that.

That's sad that people might be like that over there. I always try to help out anyone that is struggling with whatever trick as long as they seem like they are cool. Skating is a community, not a competition.
For your sake, I hope you are some kind of phenom that can pick up a board and learn how to kickflip in a month. That'd be a huge confidence booster and then you wouldn't have to worry about guys being dicks. You might even be able to teach them something :-3:

ask for help. just dont be gay about it. i will always help someone unless they expect to land it when i tell them how to do it. i respect any girl that skates. it would take alot of guts. get a blank and start shredding

I'm a girl, and I know at first when I started I was intimidated by all the guys, but after time I found no reason to feel that way. If you really wanna skate, then just skate. Can't stop yourself from trying something you wanna try just because you assume people are going to make fun of you. Get a cheap skateboard and just skate around on it so you can build up your confidence, then start learning tricks. And remember HAVE FUN!
Good luck =]

Stronghold, where exactly is the shop in camberwell?? ive been looking everywhere for a deck of about 50. the only one i could find is this shit one in boarderline. so yeah post address. thanks. yeh hoobz, its mainly all in your head, a lot of girls think that guys will bag them or whatever but usually they don't even think twice about someones sex unless theyre acting all girly and scared or just trying to pick up guys. what difference does it make. I see girls around skateparks and no one says anything bad to them. but usually if theyre hot, laments in tight pants will be very keen on giving them a lesson....

umm well i can't exactly give you the address as i can't really find out..but i know its on riversday road..(on the same road as the park and is like a 2-3 minute skate from eachtoerh)
from camberwell station.. go down to riversday and just keep going there and you should see it..
and yes on average of 5 skatesr at a pack eg..
in 2minutes = 10 stacks
but when therse a hot chick around
in 2 minutes = 100000 stacks :)

It is quite simple really. If you wanna skate, do it. If people laugh or make of you for trying, then they don't understand what skateboarding is. Its not about being the best, its about pushing your self to be the best YOU can be.
So get out there and skate for the sake of skating :-41:

damn, i need to go to your shop. skateshops must sell some pretty cool desks. the desk i have now is too simple, and it has spraypaint and crap on it. i want something with a tall back to it, with a shelf or something. and a drawer underneath, that can also be used for a keyboard just incase i ever get a computer in my room.

and most of all, girl, no fear...
I was skating in a parking lot today and took lots of spills... I got up, and tried again... That's motivation... if you can conquer that, then you will get good. I promise.

True that. When I first started the thing that was really scary is when I would land in primo on accident from a kickflip or something. Most of the time i would just fall down cause my feet wouldn't even land on the wheels.
