I just learned these Sunday. I did it like 30 times becuase I got so hype that I could ollie onto curbs. First get a decent speed and put your front foot right behind your front bolts, then put your back foot on the tail in the center. Make sure all of your weight is on your front foot before you jump. Crouch down and bend your knees, jump and get a really good pop and guide the board up with your front foot and level out. land and ride away. The first time you do it it's the best feeling in the world.

good luck, have fun

DONT LEAN BACK ESPECIALLY WHEN YOURE SKATING TOPLESS you get skinned all over your back and you cant wear a tshirt for 3 days. just lean forward but really suck your legs up to get more height

Lean back= launching your board forward. BAD.

If anything, Lean forward. Here's what I learned today for ollieing.

Have only the toes on your back foot on the board. On the front foot, have your foot smack-dab in the middle, but have the balls and toes only on your board, and your heel sort of hanging. I used to have my whole foot, and I couldn't ollie high at all.

ollie! Wat yo number, hon?

^^^ Agreed. I just learned that today too. Have your toes on the tip of the tail. You get better pop.

throw your hands in the air... like you just dont care... sorry lol couldnt help it yeah use your hands throw them in the air as you are about to jump (dont throw them stupidly; look at pros and how they do that) and after you throw them up suck them down again. it works with me but then again im simon so it might not work for everyone...

for best results i always keep my front foot turned in and keep my chest parrallel with the board so u will stay over the board and u have more control

ok, you squat a little bit, you pop the tail, hope everything goes good, land it and hope there are no rocks by the landing

for me its more commitment then getting up
i can only ollie 3-6 inches moving but when i try to ollie over stuff i got like 11 foot to 1 1/2
just get speed man and dont ollie to late or you will hit the curb oh yeah lean forward

one thing i love doing is

ollie up a curb-manual-manual off same curb/ollie off(if enough speed)

thank you, finnally someones progressing properly, practice at that curb, once you got that it will be the best thing.
Work on timing, you gotta ollie before it, dont get a ton of speed and set up at the lest second, just get some speed take some time to set up and do it.

Lean back and ollie. You get moore hight.
Never lean back all that will happed is unless you really really really commit to it you'll make it but the board will shoot straight out from under you and you will end up eating SH*T

Just lean forward and suck your knees up and bend down a lil bit when you land. This helps because if you bend your knees when you land, if you fall, it won't hurt too bad.

Well guys.. im getting it as well. I can ollie like this guy now..

http://www.ramprage.com/forums/media/showphoto.php?photo=1867&cat=500&page=1

As in i got the movement of my front foot and back foot correct. Trouble is, i can't get high.. Also, sometimes i risk twisting my foot.

My main problem is, getting the back side of the board into the air.. someone told me i just gotta pop harder aye? Throwing hands in the air would give u more thrust upward i think.

Does wearing skate-board shoes make any difference?

So pros, what safety tips are there to protect ur body while trying to ollie?

Or is it, just do it.. injure thyself, and through constant injuries/practice, u'll get it. Lolz.

Pop harder if you like but you should just practice ollies onto and off stuff since youve got it, its not a matter of popping harder, its just to practice. When i usually lose control of a trick im trying or i roll my foot, instead of putting my hands out, ive tryd and learnt to roll instead, it still hurts alot but u have no where near as bad pain as a straight on impact like a blow to the head. Some people have said on here to learn when your doing high sets to kick the board out infront of you, I just try and stick it. Then i either die or roll
