The Photo issue of Transworld had a article about is, apparently Tony Alva made sure that the movie was as accurate as possible. I can't wait to see it.

I saw the movie at a premier screening and party a few weeks ago and it's a cool movie. The actors they got to play the skaters are good except Peggy Oki,(the only girl on the team) was Asian and they used a caucasian chick to play her. Kinda lame, I guess if you don't know Dogtown history it doesn't matter but still a lack of continuity. All in all a must see but I liked the documentory better.

i heard stacy perlata helped write the screenplay.

I don't think that this should serve as a replacement for a documentary, but its gonna get me mad stoked about all the skating i'm gonna be able to get in this summer.

a lot of the actors did their own stunts.

i think its cool that they made a high budget version of the documentary. but you know its gunna have a love stoery and stupid shit in there because every movie has to have a stupid ****in love story.

No offence but i saw the trailer and i thought it looked awful. From the advert i can assume that Tony Alva betrays the Z Boys in some way because what i saw was Tony Alva's character saying he wanted to be famous and his mates saying "no man stay true to skating"
I'll see it but the advert means i'm going to be entering the film with real low expectations

Yeah, I can easily do both. I understand the difference there chief. But saying lords will be better because it's a movie and not a documentary is kind of stupid...no...it is stupid. Lords may be more entertaining because its a movie, poetic license being exercised and such. My point is they shouldn't be compared what so ever...and in the world of skate...the real deal takes it everytime.

Dude, this movie looks so rad. there's no way you can pass judgement on it if you've only seen the trailers. I mean, its mos def no replacement for the doc, but then again, i don't think that its trying to be.

I went and saw it tonight. If you're into old school skating, this movies deffinately for you. I'm not too keen on the true story of the Z-boys, so I'm sure they smudge the facts a bit, but it's deffinately worth the entrance fee. I was stoked after seeing it and had to go skate right after. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes movies and likes skating...but that's just me.

i saw it on friday... like windustries101 said if ur not into old school then it probley wont matter but its still a must c because thats what skateboarding started from and if it wasn't for them skaters, skateing wouldn't have gotton as far as it did. AWSOME MOVIE THO!:)

Dog Town and the Z-Boys I think is more of a documentary, and Lords of Dogtown is a movie.. with like actors.. and stuff.

I haven't seen either so I may be wrong. I plan on seeing both.

If you want to see REAL skating from the REAL people watch Dogtown and the Z-Boys
If you want to be entertained and have some false information given to you then go with Lords of Dogtown.

I've got it on DVD. They came out with a unrated version. I didn't get to see it in theaters, so I can't tell you what's different from the unrated version and the theater. I think it's a good movie. They kept it the movie pretty close to what really happened.
