I absolutely love this band! If you don't know who the are, they are a heavy metal band from Germany. You can't understand what they are saying (Unless you know German, of course) but the music is still awesome. Doesn't anyone else here listen to them?

Musically, Rammstein is essentially Marilyn Manson with early '80s production techniques. More shock rock off the ol' block. Metal, crunchy guitars are lacquered with studio distortion to the point that they mimic alternating tones of television static. Yet, whatever bile the band may strive to is bleached out by the over- the- counter synthesizers and commercial- jingle female backing vocals
i found that funny
i personally have no opinion on the band, though

literally du hast means you have...and then at the end of the du hast he says du hast mich gefragt und ich habt nicht gesagt (or summin) which literally means you asked me and i didnt say anything. dunno where that marrying thing came from

Rammstein are one of my favourite bands! (Owning all their albums and everything). They are definately not neo-nazis, and du hast does mean you hate, but the song is nothing about marriage. Here's the lyrics: http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Rammstein/Du-Hast-Official-English-Translation.html
I'm going to see them in July!! It's gonna be crazy, you know Rammstein always put on an amazing show, normally involving flamethrowers! :-5:

I know, I do German too. But god knows why, it does mean you hate in the song. Go buy Sehnsucht (the album the song's on) and read the translated lyrics in the booklet.

Du Hast definitly means "you have", at one point he says "du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt", which translates to "you have asked me, and I have said nothing" or "and I didn't reply". Then there are wedding vows, to which Till replies "no", then another part of the wedding vows, and he still replies "no". It totally makes sense. In the ENGLISH version of Du Hast (still written with only one s in the title), he sings "you hate", but it's a totally different song (Just like Engel, 2 versions).
Anyways yeah rammstein kicks ass, their last cd is ****ing great too.

They're not metal, they're industrial, me thinks.

They're industrial metal. The only industrial band I like. Although, Nine Inch Nails have done some good songs.

You know why they came to america? because all the germans(who liked death metal) who could understand it called them pussies and hated them, so they came to america where people wouldnt understand it.

That is far from the point, since Rammstein has nothing to do with death metal and they're still pretty big in germany and europe. Actually they're HUGE in germany and europe, so I have to admit I don't know wtf you're talking about

Yuppo, same here.
What's everyone's favourite Rammstein songs then? Mines gotta be either Tier, Du Hast (of course) or Mutter. And Keine Lust is pretty amazing, so's Seemann.

read the whole thread of the first result...this is what i got
"Without reading all the posts, there were 2 gals dancing where I work that are on their way back to Germany as I type this. I don't remember why they said they came to America, but before they left I asked them about Rammstein. Hell, I even asked them to tell me WTF they are saying in their music.
They told me that Rammstein is no where as popular in Germany as they are here. And that a majority of their music is about their homosexuality. Which is a given. They told me more, but I cannot think for shit right now."

I also did this, and found:
"Also, rammstein were big in germany, they were a national phenomenon when I stayed there, so again, those girls appear to be confused."
Winkidy wink :-3:
