I almost died...
Ok I was driving home from baseball practice with a friend and my mom called and said there was a tornado watch. We saw alot of black and a funnel cloud but didnt make a big deal about it.
We were almost home when out of no where it started to hail bad. Like real bad. So bad we couldnt see the road. So cars were stopping in front of us and I high tailed it into the middle of the road heading for home. I thought the windshield was going to break.
We pulled into our neighborhood and branches, debree was flyin all over. we also heard the tornado in the distance over the alarm. It sounded liek a train. Finally we got home and the garage door only opened a little bit so i got pelted by golfball sized hail in the head. After we got inside it went on for a good 20 min. lemme tell you, it was an adrenaline rush. *phew*
so uh any other good storm strories would be cool. (thankyou God)

When I was a kid in Florida we were evacuated from our home and had to stay in fallout shelters due to hurricanes several times. One time when we rode one out at home we watched lightning take down 150 year old oak trees on our propery. They had trunks like 10 feet in diameter and the lightning was just splitting them like butter. It sounded like a freaking cannon going off when they got hit. Scary stuff. Glad to here you and your family are all OK.

The thing about hurricanes is you have plenty of time to prepare or evacuate, but tornados sneak up on you. No time to prepare. Both potential killers though.

When I was in 5th grade, me and my friend were at his house. It was during a hurricane (Hurricane Floyd) and since there was a brook behind his house flooding, we were able to drop paper boats, little green army men attached to saran wrap parachutes, and other objects from his room in to the brook down the stream.

Two years ago a tornado hit when I was at school. We were in the direct path of the tornado too. I was up against a very thick concrete wall and I felt what I thought was wind coming through them. We also had all the outside doors locked and the storm almost ripped em open. It took these two massive trees down and one fell on a teacher's Audi. Everyone hated the teacher and she was a massive biotch like the week before. Karma.

I was camping (backpacking) and I was sleeping in this thing called a bib-wack-sack (dunno why..) it's like a little tent/sleeping bag combo, like an outdoor sleeping bag, waterproofing, net and all but the size of a sleeping bag. Anyway, it was my first time sleeping in it so I zipped it up almost all the way and went to sleep because it was cold. I had a nightmare that I was in a cage and the room was filling up with water and I couldn't breathe or get out (I was like 10 or 11) so I woke up all sweaty, choking. What had happened was the zipper closed and I had run out of air. The bag was really old so I couldn't get it open and I almost suffocated. I got out after fumbling with the zipper and punhching it a bit (while almost passing out).

lightning hit my house once and caused a fire in the washer. I swear the thunder from that lightning was so damn loud that my ears were ringing and my heart was racing. All the electrical appliances in my house was ruined and we got all new stuff pretty cool.
Nothing happened with the washer though we just put out the fire and the fire department came to check it out and that was it.

It makes me proud-- in a weird sort of way-- to have my name attached to devastating hurricanes... (Andrew and Charlie)

When I was little a tornado passed not even 10 miles away from our house. Before the local news annouced that there was a tornado warning, we had ordered a pizza from the local Pizza Hut. Anyway, it starts hailing hard and it gets VERY windy. Now heres the weird part...the pizza delivery dude auctually delivered the pizza to us in under 15 DURING a tornado.
I will always remember him :D lol
