Everybody, i just started landing my first heelflips, finally.... took me a few months of practice. But, the things which helped me MOST with my heelflips were:
Keeping my back straight
Making sure to lift my back foot way up
Practice, practice, practice. get used to it.

AND most of all, the thing I think that helped the most, and what I think is what stops a lot of people from landing heelflips:

Don't be afraid to land on the board. Keep trying, and you'll eventually get it.
I was landing on the edge of the board 50% of the time and falling on my back, on the concrete, and I think that's what scared me from trying to land on the board. But just keep trying and you'll get it. Now i have to practice until I land every heelflip perfectly.

thats one devoted skater... i totally agree i started landing heels a few weeks ago and now i can get them almost every time. the key is, not to be scared of landing them. keep your back straight, bring your back foot up and JUST PERSERVERE!!! that's all i have to say.

The things that helped me the most were: aim for the concave! (right after the bolts) and ollie like hell.

A thing that helped me the most is: screw the stupidass heelflip and just learn it switch...they pop higher anyway.

haha thats what I do. Regular heelflips feel like crap. Nollie Heelflips are good for the soul. Nollie Varial Heels are heavenly.
