other sports vs. boarding

why does everything think your a ***** if you play other sports? i play basketball, softball, run track, cross country, and competitive cheerleading. competitive cheerleading are people who would kill you if you called them a prep. yes, they're a few of them, but i'm not the only skater (girl) on my squad. we travel around the states and compete.

so now everytime i bring up other sports other than skating, everyone automatically thinks i'm a *****. do you guys have an explanation for that? :confused:

people are closed minded and stupid, those are the people that you should no worry about.

DO WHAT YOU ENJOY AND YOU THINK IS BEST. It is no one else's business what you do with your life. Diversity is good, keeps things interesting. I skate and ride BMX, it mixes things up, keeps me from getting bored, i love them both and I'm very glad that i came accross these great sports.

The people that make fun of you becuase you do different things, are generally just jealous because of your diverse talents and abilities. I say do what you want and enjoy it, cause one day you wont have time for it anymore.

ya i skate and play ice hockey, none of my friends think im a *****. But people are like, you can't be a skater and play hockey, and blah blah blah, but who cares right? do what you want live life to the fullest

yeh i sk8, play, play, play ,play and umm a lil football, umm and whatever comes my way but i do devote most of my spair time to either computers or skateboarding

Yeah why i play soccer and like my friend is dude you ***** skate or die I'm like umm whatever anyways every time he sees a rollerblader he is like dude skateboarding is for real men and and i was so like wanted to kill him... anyways one can do anything they want..

I play soccer, football, used to play AAA hockey, used to play softball, I run track for the HS, and I skate, and some times I even decide to work on BMX...nobody thinks of me as a *****

i do a little inline. i skate everyday and when im not, i play football and play video games or sumthin'. *****s are more like the ppl who say they skate but they dont.

That is something I don't get, what is a "punk". I skate and listen to heavy metal music. Does that make me a punk? I don't act or hang out with any so called punks. Alot, of people skate so they can say they are more punk, but where I live anyone who is any good at skating is there own person, they don't skate for the image. Half the people that skate aren't being who they really are just because the people they hang out with don't do it. If you want to play other sports then play other sports, don't worry about being a punk. I don't worry about other sports though because they seem more like something that takes away from skateboarding then anything else. But there needs to be more people being themselves and less stereo typing.If everyone was themselves, the world would be a better place.:)

Thats so true...i agree totally.

People today seem to care about image too much...skating is fun and i see no other reason to do it, just be yourself and there's no problem.

couldnt have put it better my self alot of people dont even think i skate because i dont dress "punk" or "skater" and then they see me doin some freestyle they say that it isnt skateing (now with tony hawk 3 out they just think i stole it from the game:mad: ) but the bottom line is that i am my self and i dont care if people try to force me into a mold and hate me for not bending into it. i too play other sports i play basketball for our school and i yo-yo professionally so i dont care what people think i live how i want to not how other people want me to

Yeah, that happens sometimes here too. I run track and XC too and I ski(park and pipe), and skate. People are like, you ski and run? Why dont you snowboard and you must suck at skating. The funny thing is that almost everyone who says things like that and wears skater shirts and the skate shoes that arent even worn at all cant even ollie. I find skiing to be more fun and personally I think it has more style than snowboarding so thats what I do. The fact that skating is proabably more similar to snowboarding doesnt bother me.

Do what you love, love what you do. The older you get the easier this becomes... if you let it.

well when i play other sports... once the other kids on the playin field /or court the other kids wana stay away from me because they think i will hurt them since i am a skater and punk and all( i do play realy rough(i play soccer and volleyball)though)
