hey guys im new to this site, so im stil explorin it.

laff if u want, but ive been sk8in for nearly 2 years, and i still cannot ollie.

ive read loads of trick help pages and ive watched short clips of how to do it.

still no luck. i try and practice often.

now im thinkin is it my weight? i cant seem to get enough lift on the board when i try any sort of trick. for those of u who dont know how stones measure to pounds sorry but i am frm england lol. im 12 stone. is it really a weight thing with this lack of ollie success? :-11:

it depends how much you weigh

hmm ive learnt that an ollie is really down to 2 things pop and timing.
i think that aslong as you pop hard and fast and that ur timing with ur sliding is right i think it should work
how tall are you? becasue if your tall weight is probably less of a problem
the other will offer some better advice :)

maybe it's that you support spurs that's faulting your progress

I swear I'm not following you, but anyway ya. On vert your pretty much weightless.

Well you dont really have to worry much about olling in a pool you just do stalls and grinds thats fun stuff!

Nah its not your weight, one of my friends is about 12 stone and 6 foot and can ollie down 2 sets, some good ledges and about 2 decks high. When you practise, do you do it with others or by yourself? Try to do it with people who are better than you, you will progress far faster with them.

Stick at street dude, you'll thank me when you got the basics down. THen you dont have to go to parks all the time and die on pipes. PLEASE DONT KILL ME RAMP SKATERS :(

When you ollie you must jump! You cant expect the board to lift you up by itself if you do the motion. You must JUMP and pop the tail.

just practice and once u do your first ollie it will become easier just keep trying different ollie methods till u get it

its not weight. just keep practicing. there are many overweight people that are pretty good at skating.

Dont feel bad. It took me 3 frickin years to ollie, and im almost underweight. Its probably your board. I couldnt ollie for years because i had a hot wheels board. Or maybe your board is too thick for you and you dont realize it. Try ollies on other boards and see what happens. I can barely even get off the ground with a 7 ply board, but i get really high with 5 plys

i checked around online....1 stone is about 14 pounds....n im 12 stones or 180 pounds....n i can still ollie perfectley well.....im also about 6 ft. tall...........umm....i think ur problem is what my problem was when i started....either ur not jumping high enough...or ur not sliding ur foot fast enough
just try standing on the board.....back foot hanging off the tail of ur board....n when u jump....gravity should do its thing n u should be in the air...then its just a matter of sliding ur foot up....n i can get it while im not moving...about a foot or 2 in the air.....u should try it while ur moving....for sum reason i get higher when im moving.....n dont worry about how long it is..just try 2 get it down...took me 5 months...... :D :D :D

Some people aren't as natural skaters as other, you will get it with practice. It's all in the feet and mine. hardly anything to do with an athletic build or super strong arms.

DUde....Street is so much more fun....sure vert looks cool.....but street...u actually have 2 work for everything..n in the end ull be doin better stuff....harder....but better....dude.....just practic 2 or 3 hours every day or 2...for the next month.....n itll be ok....HOPE U STICK WITH STREET....

Right, your saying that street is harder than vert, vert you have to work for way more, you have to have guts to learn airs on vert, if you hook up your going to miss the ramp and hit the flat bottom.

If you havent learned to ollie in 2 years, either skate one day for like 12hrs, and try to ollie every second. Or just go vert, cus doesnt sound like streets your thing. Imagine how long it would take you to kickflip if it took you 2+yrs to ollie...

it took me 4 years (laugh if you will) to ollie but it took em 5 months to get the basics of kicks down

Verts harder since if you start on street and go to vert you have to learn an ollie on vert pretty much all over again
And also ridin on the strret is easy but dropping in isn't easy lol trust me

Skatapunk...your logic is shit. I skate street but I still think that street and vert are equally difficult. Just because you haven't tried vert doesnt mean you have to assume it is easy to air out of a halfpipe.

i no im only good at stalls and stuff but getting air in the pipe is really hard i only did like 1 foot of air in the pipe

no its not ur weight im from the us and i weigh 145 pds and im 5'5 which is heavy here and ive been skatin for 3weeks and i can ollie so my advice would be try it dry grass and slide ur front foot up and leave ur back foot in the air once youve snaped ur tail

All I can say is slam down on your back foot, when your back wheels get off the ground a little, push your front foot down. You should start low, don't expect anything big. Weight might be a factor, but just push your back foot down harder.
