how do you re grip your deck? would you just put the new grip overtop the old one or take off the old grip.

If you take it off, what is the best way to do so?

I hope there is a real reason you would need to re-grip.
Anyway, never ever try to put it on over the old stuff.

yea just use like a razor blade and get a corner up. Once you accomplish this just pull is slowly, usually comes up pretty easy then you can regrip.

haha ive never heard of someone not knowing whether to take the old grip off first or not.

if its really bad, like totally thrashed, worn out, cut up, and all that, it probably wont peel off. if its just dirty, you can peel it off slow. just stand on the deck and pull straight up or something.

its easier to use a hair dryer though or something to heat the glue up so it comes off easier.

i dont think mud effects it, mud on my deck wears off after a day of skating.

Use a hair dryer so all the glue gets soft and then pull up a corner and keep going down slowly. EZ AS!

If you feel you really have to take it off you can use spray paint. Spray a good layer over the grip, give it a minute (to sink through and chemically react w/ glue), and it will slip right off.

If ya need help regripping. http://www.ramprage.com/tuneups/skateboard_tune_ups/1/275

I just did this a couple days ago.

First what you want to do is get a box cutter(my personal favorite)
with the box cutter you will want to try to get underneath the grip. Pull at the grip while still getting underneath the grip. Continue doing that untill its all off.

Next you might want to take of the trucks. After you do that get some nail polish remover and get allt he grime on the top of the board off so when you put the new grip down there won't be any air bubbles.

Then put on the grip(if you want to put on a tail line then yuo will have to cut up the grip into 2 peices before you put it on). After you put it on you will want to sand down the edges. Then cut away the peices sticking out and your done.
