I landed a sex change kickflip before a normal kickflip. that was on wednesday. but on friday i landed a normal kickflip. Need to switch my position a teensy bit to land a varial :D

A regular kickflip. I'm all for learning basics and then building off of them. These kids who try to do kickflip backside 5-0s and can barely backside 50-50 astound me.

im with dcs on that one you need to lean the basics and build or eventually even if you can land a few kewl tricks it will catch up with you then youll have to start over at the basics ive seen it happen with some of my freinds

I'm closer to varials , because when I try to kickflip , my foot goes off to the left , but when I varial , it makes my foot go right where it should , because it's gotta push the board in that direction .

Agreed... I learned a reg kickflip then went to the Varials...im working on heels right now and for those crazy insane kids wanting to kill themselves without starting basic let them go ahead lmao.

Learned Kickflips first. I only bothered learning varial flips about a year after, I just dont find them to be all that great, an overrated trick if you ask me.

I learned kickflips first. I haven't tried varial kickflips or heels or anything other than a kickflip....I dont really have any motivation to learn any others. Im just trying to learn to ollie higher to do some grinds....and every once in a while Ill try to do a Varial Heel, they look pretty decent.


I love varial kickflips. I dont know why everyone thinks it looks ugly. They're one of my favorite tricks, but they're so hard for me to learn.

alright, alright, after about 2 weeks or so of not skating due to ankle/foot injury, i had a little 2 hour session in my garage just now, and since i pretty much havnt tried to do kickflips in such a long time, because all i did was varials heels and frontside/backside heels, i decided to try to get everything back. And acutally, i regained probably every trick i thought i would lose after i hurt myself, and i wore a thin brace and some puffier shoes so it wouldnt get hurt again as its still healing. Then, i thought of this thread and decided to try to kickflip, and for the first time ever, i landed it. I think i forgot the muscle memory of my mobbed attempts, and focused on flicking my foot to the left (im regular) of my board rather than straight up, after learning these ( i still have a way to go to perfect them), my varials were way way better, so in conclusion, learn your basics first.

I landed kickflips frist...varial kickflips have become one of my best tricks. Now I'm working on 360 shuvits, 360 flips, and Impossibles.

sex change kickflip is when you body varial during a kickflip. whilst in midair. usually you start the body varial half a hundreth of a second after the actual kick to make the board flip. Im getting better at sexchange ones.
