At what point did everyone decide that they were going to start taking their tricks to the stairs? Did anyone start olleying stairs sets before trying to learn alot of flip tricks/grinds....or were stairs something that you learned later?

I practiced everything on ledges before i took it stairs.
Plus it's hard to find a good set with a good run up or roll away.

I learned how to ollie then i tried the local 2 set. Then learnt kickflips and tried em down the 2 set. Then lernt loads more ticks and tried em on ledges and whatever.
About half a year of skatin in.

I could ollie stairs before I could do any fliptricks.
My first stair set was a gnarly 4 set.
But now I can heelflip it and stuff.

The first day I skated I ollied a 2 and 3 stair. So yeah, I perfected my ollie before I even thought about flip-tricks.

But a lot of stairs you just need speed and to lift up the nose and you've cleared it.
I can do that with 6 sets.

But I actually ollied them. I tried riding off 'em but Dan called me gay so I ollied both sets. How do you do that with a 6? The biggest I've manualed off was a 4, it was an ollie manual up a small curb and over the 4.

Get speed and nudge it off.

Speed is very important. So is popping hard. I could ollie about 18 inches before i did any flip tricks. It's important to learn all your tricks while riding, i'm just starting to do this now. But I suggest that you get enough speed that will take you over the stairs, and make sure you're comfortable and have all your balance, then pop as hard as you can, and don't get scared while you're in the air and stay with the board. I just make sure i'm over the stairs when i'm in the air and stomp the board down from the air.

Man I really need to perfect my ollie...I'm actually very good at some flip tricks, but I'm not gonna lie...my ollie sucks. Is it weird that I can kickflip so much better than I can ollie? My kick/heelflips are so high and fast, but my ollie sucks...I really don't know what I'm doing wrong...ollies seem so simple.

I'll probably never do a stair set . Just imagine this .....
" Alright , man I'm gonna try this 5 set ... here we go . *push push push* Oh shit !!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! *hits second step* ughhh *tumbles down stairs* Oww..... "
That would be me .

I havent really taken anything to stairs. I live in Indiana so... and I live in some little tiny street and theres nowhere to skate the only good thing in my neighborhood is a box my bro and I built.
But before the staris u can probably try stuff just off some high ledges.
