View Full Version : Movies That Make You Cry

Poser Park

Okay, I know most of us here are too "tough" to cry. But which movies have brought a tear or two to your eye?

My list includes:
Saying Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers
Lord of the Rings
Black Hawk Down
Band of Brothers

I don't know why, but its the realistic war movies that get to me.

The Butterfly Effect (NOT THE DIRECTOR'S CUT) - the scene with the burnt dog in the bag, I can't watch that, too far....and the ending with the two characters in the high street and Oasis's 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out'. Quite moving.

I'm proud of you all, you're actually showing emotion!

As for me, the Band of Brothers episode 9 (Why We Fight), the discovery of the Nazi concentration camp, and the finale 'Points'.. where they're departed home, or to Japan based on the their service records. It was very touching.

That, and the end of Sandlot.

Shining was a tear jerker for me.

The trailer makes me cry alone. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf7h6o3I8yw&search=the%20shining)
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom-boom-boom
Son, he said, grab your things
I've come to take you home
Eh, don't quit

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Oh, my life was in a rut
'Til I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I'd walk right out of the machinery
My heart going boom-boom-boom
Hey, he said, grab your things
I've come to take you home
Eh, back home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty, she'd pirhouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom-boom-boom
Hey, I said, you can keep my things
They've come to take me home

Of Mice and Men was weird.....we were forced to watch it for class two years ago, so that's probably why I was detached.

Well, being a chick, I cry in chick-flicks. But bawlers:

"We Were Soldiers" (I love war movies, but I hate them at the same time. Love them for empathy, hate them for sadness)
"A Walk to Remember"
"The Passion of Christ" ( Oh. Man. )
"Troy".

Man. )
"Troy".

They're the only ones that come to mind right now. HAH I'm a sap, but I have every right to be. Back off.
Pft pussy.

Just kidding ;)

My mom wanted to show me an Oprah episode she taped about Aushiwitz with Ellie Wiesel(spelling?) and the following episode on the essay contest winners thatt wrote about what was theor reaction to the book NIGHT by Ellie Wiesel.

I was histerical when I saw a Tutsie (my spelling is bad) girl that escaped from Rwanda won the contest. Oprah reunited her with her long lost family, and I was having such tears of joy. She hid in a banana tree to survive BY THE WAY.

Hmm... You know what, I'm not trying to sound tough or anything, but I really don't think I've ever cried watching a movie. Umm.... I think I may have shed a tear or two watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I might of watching Titanic, but we were watching it in class, and we were all making jokes and shit so it wasn't sad at all. The only thing sad was our lack of attention

I walked out of "just my luck" with lindsey lohan. It sucked so bad it made me cry. Me and this random dude started talking in the middle of the movie and nobody cared because it sucked so bad. I also walked out of ice age two: the meltdown because it sucked so much.

Quite. Definetly a sad ending.

Edit: And there was this Robin Williams movie way back. I think it was called the Bicentenial Man... but am not sure. It's the one where he is a robot, haha. I only watched when I was like 8 though, so I probaly have second thoughts now.

There were some pretty touching parts in Annapolis. And the end of Click, definately brought a tear to my eye. Also, World Trade Center made me cry. It's these movies that have to do with families that make me cry. I love my family.
