Heres a typical weekday at Major Taylor Skatepark in Indy. It's outside so it's a bit cold at times. This was earlier last week it was really warm. Nothing special just my fav skatepark.

Those stairs look super fun...

mrock, like i've told you all before, i mean, i'm like the only camera person ever that knows how to take decent camera angles and nice shots. but i can't find a boarder that can. so when i get a good camera that my parents trust me with on a board, and a decent board again, i'll do my best for you all

sKaTiNpUnK

mrock- those stairs are awesome. the 5 set, it's taken me awhile to get used to it still. but on my contest run i hit a double kickflip down it perfectly.something i thought was impossible for me to do.

sKaTiNpUnK
05-23-2002, 12:04 AM
lol i couldn't believe it myself sk8erpsycho, i think it was one of those things i was so revved up from the crowd, so much adrenaline, so little time, so much screaming, so sweaty god i could've completed anything and everything that day. i just hope i'm like that for the skating finals for king of the park. (or queen :D)

the only bad thing about this whole park is the sides of the bowls. they suck. i've gotten stuck in these things at least a hundred times, they hurt, let me tell you that. face first on concrete isn't anything new at major taylor skatepark. lol. but these are pics of the ones i hit the most.

ramprage-i think sk8erpsycho should be your luggage. lol. we'll talk about those plane tickets maybe.....never....lol. i don't even have enough money to buy a decent board!

What the heck kinda camera is that? Those look professional.

Ramprage
05-23-2002, 01:04 AM
That definately looks like a serious problem for the park. What if you tried to get a fundraiser going and a group of skaters to fix the edges. All you need is some cement patchwork which isn't hard to do, you can buy bags of cement at local hardware stores, you just mix it with water.

Possibly patch up the edges and put all new coping in... that would cost more but it will fix the problem a little better.

Has anyone asked the city or community if they're willing to fix it? How many skaters use it? Get people to sign a petition, the more people interested in fixing the problem the better the chances are.

hey get a talented skater to finish the job, get cememnt as ramprage said and fix it yourself thats a good idea it will take a while but remember to tell the other skaters its wet lol!

sKaTiNpUnK
05-23-2002, 09:24 PM
mrock-actually it's not the camera that did that awesome job, it was the scanner. lol. i know it sounds weird, but really. i just used a disposable camera (which are the best to use for still shots) and then scanned them on over at my cousin's house whos got some major hardware for his pc.

sKaTiNpUnK
05-23-2002, 09:30 PM
also mrock- i changed a lot of the settings on his pc for the picture, therefore making it look more professional. it's a little confusing when you do it, but it's all worth it in the end, expeciall when someone thinks your disposable camera shot is professional.

ramprage-we skaters (meaning about 12 of us thats all there is out there practically) have all tried to get someting going. we've contacted the front offices and many other people to get something going. they said that they wanted to build steel beams into the bottom of the skatepark, but that would take some time, and money. i told them we just wanted our sides back to normal, everything else to us is fine. they still don't listen to us, but i mean, shouldn't they? considering we're the skaters, and we're the ones who ride it. doesn't matter what it looks like, but this time you can't even ride it smoothly. so they won't listen to us, and they'll probably just tear up the park again.

Ramprage
05-23-2002, 10:22 PM
They built a skatepark for 12 skaters? There has to be more than that.... If they still don't listen then keep bugging them, don't bug the same person, try a variety of people until you actually find someone who listens. Maybe I can do an article on your park to help get the awareness up about it, maybe people will want to help you out.

Ramprage
05-23-2002, 10:26 PM
If they still don't listen then I'd do this....

Even if you get every one of the 12 skaters to donate $41 bucks you'll have $500 dollars. You can probably get enough cement to patch it up with that amount. Find out if the skaters are willing to put a little bit of money into it, and their friends/family and then approach the counsil and tell them the problem and that all you need is their permission to fix it.... you'll do it all. They'll surely say yes and then maybe offer some help. Try to get the community involved and have like a planned couple of days to fix up the park!

Those are some really bad cracks you got there.

Chekos
05-29-2002, 09:04 PM

Thats a well nice park. Shame about the cracks

sKaTiNpUnK
05-30-2002, 08:28 PM
yeah every skater here HATES the cracks. we all complain now. i went a few days ago and i found out that i wasn't the only skater that had a petition going to fix the cracks. the guy, craig brock, and i decided that we'd combine our petitions together since we were working for the same exact cause. so we've got a butt load of people now. once we hit 250 we'll turn it into the skatepark manager or whoever we need to reach. right now in counting, we've got 189. so we're doing really well if you ask me.

Ramprage
05-31-2002, 03:17 AM
Skateboard competition... hmm just try to visualize yourself doing your tricks and gets lots of sleep, don't have a heavy lunch ;)

Make sure you photocopy those petitions before you just hand them over..... keep up the good efforts. If you guys get together and want to send me an article about the park then I'll post it :D

sKaTiNpUnK
05-31-2002, 04:15 PM
thanks ramprage. yeah i tried to get as much sleep as i could. i haven't eatin yet. but i will. skaters have to be there @ 4. i'm pretty focused right now. i got up @ about 10 something this morning. went out in my pj's and did some boarding, i dont care how i looked, i was just so focused this morning. so wish me luck, and god i hope i win this.

good luck and tell us how you do after

sKaTiNpUnK
06-02-2002, 11:19 PM
you will never guess what happened....whoa, it was PHENOMENAL! it was so awesome. i did everything just so perfect it seemed like. i only fell once. the crowd just revved me up so much. they actually wanted me to skate FOR them. i'd been working so hard on my darkslides at home earlier that day and i couldn't get them down right. so heres how it ended up going...

the best combo i hit went like this....first i kickflipped up to the rail, boardslide, darkslide, heelflipped down, rolled awhile, went to the stairs, double kick flipped, kept rolling, had like 5 seconds left, so i just tried something suicidal, they stuck up this new ledge thats like a foot and a half high, i went up and tried to ollie, i thought i'd bust my butt, i ended up barely, BARELY getting over it. it was the biggest adrelaline rush i'd ever gotten in my life. i'd thought i'd pass out from excitement. the crowd just like went off. lol i didn't even think i did that good of a job. but i was 4th skater out of 13. i had a lot ahead of me. they narrowed it down to 6 skaters after our runs.

i ended up being in there.

so i went on another run, i just hit everything. it was the greatest day of my life. i didn't mess up AT all in that run. i didn't plan anything for that run like i did the first one. i just did whatever came to me. 6 skaters left, only 2 would be narrowed down.

i ended up getting a spot.

my friend flitch got out though, i was upset.

this really started to freak me out though. i had to go up against this 14 year old guy who was just totally great. he ran through his run, did a totally sweet job. he tried something thinking he was ahead of me anyways. and he totally screwed himself over. he tried to pull off a darkslide, he fell face first onto the ground, broke his nose, 20 seconds left in his run. whatta shame.....

my turn after they cleaned up the blood. lol muhaha

so i went out there, did my best, was so focused and yet so eased at the same time. it was just, well, beautiful. my run was awesome. i did everything i could do in the first 50 seconds. (see we get a minute and a half)

so, since i was the only one that day to pull off a darkslide, the crowd starting going "darkslide, darkslide" i was thinking "damn i feel like rocky or something lol" so i got the best force i could behind me, pop shuv-it, boardslide, darkslide, (the darkslide seemed like forever though but it was so sweet i didn't care) then i landed it.

i landed it, again. i don't know how, but some type of weird ass force just like invaded my body. lol

i had 10 seconds left so i just kind of went around and did a lot of stationary moves, so on.

buzzer rang, time to go up to the front...this time my legs were friggin jello i was so freaked.

we both walked up (by the way, his name is jake) and we stood in front with the owner of the park, and some other dude. and he annouced. "2nd place, with a great run through, nice moves, slick look, crowd loves this guy...." (now when he said guy i friggin peed my pants.) "Jake (w/e his last name was)" i jumped like 40 feet high. my dad was like belastic lol.

i won.

i actually won that contest guys. i mean, this is megan, the skater girl who, uh, really isn't all that good. but pulled off some crazy ass moves, that i can only do when hormones race, and adrenaline is pumped to the maximum.

but i mean, i just still can't believe i won that. it's just unbelievable. i seriously just feel so blessed. i mean, come on I WON!

for now on THANK YOU lol call me "Megan THE skatepark queen" lol they have to change the trophy. to say "queen of the skatepark" lol.

GOD i'm just so excited still!

ramprage- thanks for the light lunch thing, some kids like puked that ate so much lol

and again, this is the greatest thing thats ever happened to me in my whole entire life. just i want to thank all you guys for your support, i probably couldn't of pulled this off w/o you all. thanks. i love you guys!

DArkslides are sweet but they suck when you are like not really to get off them cause you may flip the board to your nuts...

sKaTiNpUnK
06-03-2002, 02:40 AM
lol i wouldn't know, i don't exactly have nuts you know?

sk8erpsycho
06-03-2002, 03:33 AM
lol, yea..... i so want to see some footage of you shredding some of those moves... and how do you go from boardslide to darkslide, just askin', do you like boardslide and flip the board half over under you or something? sweet good job

blind
06-03-2002, 04:07 AM
sk8erpsycho, i think she was doing these moves in a line, like, boardslide down a rail, then go for a few secs., then a darkslide on a curb/ledge thingy.

sKaTiNpUnK
06-03-2002, 04:12 AM
alright well this is how i did it at least, or how i learned it:

1.Ok you need to try this grind on a parking stub also. You need to know the kickflip and the ollie first.
2.Go to the stub at a 45 degree angle. Put your feet in a kickflip position. Ride up to the stub ollie turn your body at a 45 degree angle.
3.While you are turning your body kick the board to a half kickflip.
4.When you stop the board with your foot make sure the stub is right under the board.
5.Now you have to keep balance.
6.This is the hard part. Find a spot at the trucks to see if your foot can hook onto something. If so hook your front foot under the thing. Now when you are about to get to the end push your backfoot down and your front foot up and turn your body at a 90 degree angle and stop the board spinning when it gets right side up again.

thats the best i could do so i hope it sounds alright :: cringe ::

Yup, I think Mullen can only do that....

To darkslide you need to kickflip on (sorta) but it's still a darkslide.... but to heelflip off? umm rightt..... I don't believe it until I see some video, sorry.
