avi's work fine with vegas. I've never had a problem loading them up into the editor. Avi's are the type of file created when captured by vegas...then rendered into .mov mpg wmv etc etc...need a separate converter to make mp4's but that is free software. http://www.ramprage.com/filming/intructional/1/376 Use the same software for converting video to play in my PSP and Ipod. The software creates a mp4 file that PSP recognizes..basically just changes the name to MV4(any five digits) and also creates a thumb file for PSP. To play the file in Ipod, just change the title back to original name, and add to itunes. Simple shit really and alot faster than other methods posted on the net.

So tell me, how long did it take you to acquire your vast range of knowledge of video filming/editing? Did you just learn as you learned to skate, ever take a class, someone ever teach you? I truly am impressed.

Well when i try to upload a avi. file into Vegas, and preview it, it only has sound. You've lost me there...maybe its a system or region thing. May possibly be something that requires a registration.

So tell me, how long did it take you to acquire your vast range of knowledge of video filming/editing? Did you just learn as you learned to skate, ever take a class, someone ever teach you? I truly am impressed. My knowledge isn't really that vast. One thing that I recommend you do is always read the manual. When I first started with Vegas..version 4 just came out and I started by reading the manual and playing with the editor while I read. After completing the 329 page manual I had a pretty decent understanding of the way it worked. Same with DVD authoring. There is alot of information and tutorials out there on the net, and it all cost dick to learn. If you read enough and play enough with it (so to speak) then you could do almost anything with it.

As far as editing software goes, I personally think FCP is one of the best out there...(Cold Mountain:was completely edited with FCP but its Mac only.) With all the plug-ins, tutorials, merging softwares like effects and boris, theirs really very little you can't accomplish using Vegas. Just read, learn, and apply.

Peace.

Ive uploaded a few clips from my digi cam. When i open up Vegas Video, locate the clip and add it to the timeline, i try to preview it, but only sound comes out. Ive uninstalled it and reinstalled it, checked my serial number many times. I cant really talk to Sony about the problem, well you know why.
