I have bones red bearings and i was wondering what the removable plastic back part of it was for.

Are you talking about the crown or the seal? The seal (red) keeps dirt out. The cage (clear on reds) keeps the balls in place. If you remove it your bearings WILL fall apart.

not really, unless all the balls are touching (dont say anything about that, those jokes are old). its happened to me.

they stay together when theyre spaced apar

also allows you to remove it and use some bearing oil to keep them going.
