Mine is okay. It's like 20x20 ft. little tiny building. And it doesn't have much stuff. The owner, Scott, is a big hippie and smokes way to much weed. He closes the skateshop to take his whiney-ass girlfriend home everyday. I think they have sex in the tiny room in the back when there are no customers. The shop has a big box, 5 rails, a qp, And a couple of kickers. It's pretty fun. The prices arn't bad, and if you know Scott, he'll give it to you for a couple bucks cheaper. And his stickers are cheap. He sometimes gives you a free poster if you buy something.li

Our Boardshop is called "Skatology" anyway its right here in the middle of town about a 10-15 min walk from me, buklding is an old house, shops like 20' by 35' very open right now because they tor a wall out and are trying to make room for clothes....Anyway prices are expensive like any other skate shop. Its run by this guy John who also works at UPS with me.

It's great, tiny shop but it made the whole scene happen, the owner is a bit of a tit sometimes but generally dead canny.

We have 4 skateshops here in Philly
1.) Nocturnal - decent size, they have alot of different decks and clothing. Good prices, co-owned by Kerry Getz.
2.) Sub-Zero - about the same size as Nocturnal the guys there are cool. They understand newbies (not me I swear haha) And one of the guys there has a 5.0 Mustang, a 600hp VW. I think it was a GTI. He only has Etnies and globes at his shop but he has like every color and style of them there. Lots of shirts...the deck selection is ok...
3.) Elite - a big shop, not many shoes, lots of decks though. They only have like 3 or 4 trucks there...weird. Most of the stuff is pricey compared to the other shops.
4.) Liberty boards - This store just opened up like 2 months ago. Not many decks, mostly clothing and shoes. They have a few shoes but they are mostly the shitty brands. Theres a hot girl that works there.

my shop used to be class (and still is) but it's selection of boards has gone down. it used to have all the well-known makes like girl, world, element, and that sort of stuff. but now it has hardly anything! the shoe supply is is good condition though, it has all the top shoe makes which is cool

Board Sports is cool. Maybe 30x20, with a back room. Used to be a John L Scott realty place. Lots of shoes, and clothes. Not as many decks, but still quite a few.
Wheels, bearings and trucks are kept in a glass counter. Mostly Venture trucks for some reason. Sells surf boards and snowboards, aswell.

the one nearest to me is called urban chaos- they sell decks, roller blades, snow boards etc. they sell loads of clothes and stuff and an okay selection of shoes.
barely any wheels or trucks, and the range of decks seems to have thinned - i saw decks like element in there before but now they just seem to have un know brands and completes.
its mostly clothes and accestories like belts sweatbands etc

JC's Bikes and Boards.
Pretty cool dude runs the place. Sells trucks, decks, wheels, bearings, videos, stickers, a few shirts, a bunch of bicycle crap, but no shoes. He's an expert griptape applier and will do it for free when you buy a deck. He does sponsor people, but just discounts. If and when I get good I may look into a sponsorship.

sequence skateshop. not that big, but its a family. its one of those smaller-town family-feeling skateshops. pretty much everyone is friends.
we go hang out there sometimes, watch videos on the couch, i talk to pat about products and all that stuff, good and bad things in the business, etc.
pat = my friend, the owner. hes 28.

We don't have a skate shop, unless you would like to take the train out to the city(new york city). Well we do have this one shop, its just a generic sports store but it has a little skate sections...however none of the employees know anything about skating. And the section is tiny.

we also have boarderline, but i talk about sequence if someone asks about my local shop. its skate and snowboarding, and its basically the same.. only the shop is a little bigger, they have more stuff (not a wider variety, just more of each category because theyre bigger).. theyre still a family, but the whole feel is like theyre kind of cocky. they take the "boarderline pride" way too far, and theyre all "were anti corporate against the big guys and were a core shop." which is totally untrue.
so i dont shop there, unless i need snowboarding stuff.

Ambush
Ruin
Urban
Stratosphere
by far, ambush is much bigger but its not all skate stuff. Great selection though. I go there most often. Sometimes i sit on the beanbag chairs and just chill, watch videos. If my friends are workin' ill talk to em and stuff. they hook me up with stuff from time to time so im sorta flowed by em in a way.
Ruin is sick. Very nice shoe stock. they have old classic shoes like the koston 3s and whatnot. i dont go there often cuz its pretty far but when i do, my friends who work there are amazing... http://www.lighttight.com theyre all on this site.
Urban is overpriced.
Stratosphere, Grant Taylor's dad runs it. Awesome selection of shoes. A lot of Nikes tho... i wonder why.

awesome shop. pros like ed selego even work there
spenser
07-22-2005, 03:12 AM
we have pros at our shop, but theyre snowboarders. ashley call, jason borgstede, mark landvik..
i saw mark the other day.. he just walks in, eats some food, watches a video.. its like "hey mark!" and you never even think about the fact that hes a pro, and hes even been on the cover of transworld snow.... its kind of weird to think about this for me, but i grew up with pros skated with them. even though they werent pro for skating, though theyre still good.

07-22-2005, 03:22 AM
^yeah, true, you would never think that theyre pros. like the other day forrest kirby is just sitting there and reading a magazine. these guys are just normal and like spenser said, its like "hey Ed"

We don't have an actual skatepark around here. The clothing store is pretty much only Pacific Sun, which is pretty sad. And the only place to buy decks is at Scheels, which is a sporting goods store.

My local shop is great. The people there are so laid-back and they're my age and easy to talk to. They sometimes give us little discounts because we come in a lot. The dude there also gave me this card to call anytime I snapped a deck and need a new one. Key skateshop owns, basically.

Skateshop in my town is super small. Its really a paintball store. It sells like 2 brands and a couple of trucks and wheels. Although they are quite cheap. Theres a Zumiez in our mall and it has a assload of decks, trucks, wheels, shoes ETC. But kinda exspensive

we had a skatepark and shop in the town i live in, it crashed. (shows how good it was) the stuff in there wasnt cheap. and it wasnt cheap to skate at the park either. anyway. when it went under the owner moved it to the sanctuary in macon. where the only other skate park that i know of is. he re named it clockworks and its not doin so good over there either. so hes thinkin about movin into the mall in macon, figures he might get more buisiness there. but yeah. pac sun is basically the only store skaters here get there stuff, unless they order on line. which is how i get all my stuff other than shoes.
