A tip for those who want to start jumping over things: start with a hose. You work up from that to, say, a 2x4. Then, a 4x4 post, a 4x4 with a 2x4 on top, and so on. Good luck!

actualy phat that is why alot of people quit skating. they expect to be able to do somthing harder at first and become frusturated and quit. but i think if you screw learning how to ollie and do it my way ull be fine. you learn boardslides on a low rail and not even worry about ollieng and then after a couple days or a week ull be able to ollie and to boardslide.

I started with a 2x4, it wasn't that hard once I got the ollie form down. But yeah, hoses are good too. You can use them for shuvits to, just slant it and it makes it easier to learn shuvits.
