Mark Purdy's trick Tips

1. Ollie
2. Kickflip
3. popshuvit
4. switch Ollie
5. heelflip
6. Fakie Ollie
7. Late 180
8. 3 ft ollie

1. Ollie

The main trick for a skateboarding the "ollie" created by alan who's nickname was Ollie.

To begin the trick Place one foot on the tail, and your other foot approximatly half way up the board. Ollie can either be done standing still or a t a slow pace, crouch , then slam your backfoot down and make your foot half way up the board slide on its side up to the top and lift your foot on the tail into the air. Most people have problems staying over the board, a neat trick is to look at your board from above to keep above it. Also people kick out too hard and the board flies away.

2. Kickflip

Another common trick that can be used in many other tricks e.g. 360 Flip, Varial kickflip... More or less this trick starts out like an Ollie Except your foot can be further up the board, near the 4 pins, at a slant, almost like your front foots heel, is almost facing the foot on the tail, For the trick Do the same as the ollie, put your fr
ont foot at a slant, kick down hard, slid your foot up, instead of sliding it to the top, kick it off , before it reaches the top. Problems with this trick is that some people make it spin into a varial or can't keep it underneth you, Always look down to keep it underneth you, also if it spins in varial re-position your front foot to a different angle.

3. Pop-shuvit

For the Pop-shuvit, Place the foot on the tail, almost pointed at the top of the tail , and the front foot in the ollie postion, have a nice slow steady pace, and you have to get the order and time right, first you dont need to slant the front foot, you just lift it off, while lifting the foot off, press on the tail, and scoop back and jump the board should spin in an even 180 degree spin. Problems with the pop-shuvit are if you press down too hard, the board may spin out of control and can fly out in any direction, another is when you land make sure you have you back foot ready to land on the tail, because if its moving and both your feet are near the middle of the deck you have no balance, and no way of turning.

4. Switch Ollie

For someone that hasn't done a switch ollie before, i can be frustrating, because you know how to ollie but it wont work the other way round. The main problem is that when your doing things the opposite way round, its hard to move in opposite directions at the same time, its almost the same with the drums, you can have a stready beat with one stick, and with the other a faster beat, if someone who didn't know how to play the drums came along, it would almost be certian the can't move their hands indepently, you need to practice the slam and slide up with the front foot, and then the jump, practive over and over again, i can just get my switch ollies around 2 ft.

5. Heelflip

Right, for heelflip, place your feet in the kickflip postion, instead of utting you front foot slanted near the pins, put your foot at the opposite side of the board so your front part of your foot is hanging off the board, have a slow pace, ollie agains slide your foot, but instead of scooping back, kick forward, and move your feet out the way while the board spins, Then slam and land it, with heelflips you can get them pretty high. Problems, The problems with heelflip are that the flips stick to your feet, if this problem happens move the foot hanging over the edge further forward, Another is the board can land verticle and can land on it "ouch" and i've experienced that on my first attempt....

6. Fakie Ollie

People set off differently for fakie, some push in their normal stance and jump round to make the switch to fakie, or start to push out in fakie. Fakie means going moving backwards, while your in the stance you use ( regular or goofy) so stand in the ollie postion the push to make it so that you go the opposite way than you would normally go, at a steady pace lean almost towards your board and attempt and ollie if the board flips out you need to lean towards the board more.

7. fs Late 180

The late 180 ollie. Assuming you can ollie and 180.. In the ollie stance have a nice steady pace, Ollie, while in the air kick your back foot ( pretty hard ) so it would almost be in a shuvit. Ollie and then in the air swing you body in the front side postion, and use the grip tape and turn the board in the air just as you are about to land. Problems, the board wont turn... all it needs is practice, The board kicks out, Look down on the board is a help for it kicking out.

8. 3ft Ollie

Im not the tallest of people im only 5'7 - 5'8 but most people around 5 have a good chance of reaching 3 ft ollie, Put your feet in the ollie postion, the backfoot on the tail, but put your front foot nearer the backfoot, crouch as low as you can go, the Slam it and ollie, but crouch as high as you can in the air, its almost gauranteeded to stick to your feet, the better your spring and crouch in the air, the higher you can go.

Thanks for using my Tips. Approximate time of writing this out...
