i bought my first set up at circut city for 100 bux (US) at circut city. It came w/ a cord to capture the video with and a nice program to edit them with. Its called MGI videowave, Belkin USB videoBus II. IT came with a photo program as well. The program makes it easy to take pictures out of video. Editing is a sinch. just drag the clips from the library into the editor, use your MARK IN and MARK OUT points to edit, then drag the clips into the timeline. Its easy to set transitions and it has alot of effects that you can add. Outputing is a sinch as well and they have a variety of choices as far as compression goes and they make it easy for anyone.

yup...you can even do it with your VCR, as long as it has RCA outputs...the 'two cord thingy that your playstation uses'. Remember OUTPUTS, not inputs.

Is there anyway I can hook up my digital camcorder to a USB port? I only have a FireWire port on my laptop, and I'm all out of space on that.

right now i have a really high quality camera that was like...$7,000 (my work bought it for me...I film for a job right now) and they have this huge studio with all high-tech equiptment and it sucks, it's really difficult to use, but for like tape of my friends or when i work and i don't want to use the big expensive camera i have a little one that was like$2,000 (also something my work bought for me) and I use the video wave to edit that and it's really nice, i recommend it!

Hey, yeah I have videowave too, and it is sweet, but do you guys have problems with the Copyguard thing? and also do you have trouble outputing to a VCR?thanks

Mikey to output to your VCR you need a video card with video out.
So the video card out and the VCR in.
You also need to hook up a cable to your audio card on your comp to the audio out jack and then audio in on the VCR if you want to get any audio.
As for any copyright messages that might be because you don't have a full version of the program, you're using a Shareware version?

U guys seem to complicated with in/out puts. Usually, in a computer, in ur video card, it comes with a SVIDEO or COAX connectoir piece, whic is usually an output, out put sends footage from ur PC to VCR or camcorder or w/e... IT would be labeled if its an Input S video or COAX connecter.
SO... From a VCR or camcorder using the RED WHITE YELLOW coards, plug on end into the out of ur VCR or CC, connect the RCA cord to ur CAPTURE CARD, which should have RCA jacks. U can use S video, a new cord, for advanced systems...anwyas. play ur footy and capture it onto ur computer using the capture card's software...
the firewire is a complete different way of capturing footagem different wires, different camera (newer), and diff. ports... ask me if u want info on that....

mikej, usually VCRs dont have S VIDEO in or outs. DVDs have it tho, S video is a new kind of trend, u would need a S video in on ur TV. play ur footy on ur computer to the TV through S video cables, thaen have have a VCR recording whats on ur TV....
