I sprained/rolled my right ankle (back foot; im regular stance) about 6 weeks ago. now, i really wanna start skating again, but today, whilst having a casual kickabout with my mates, I started getting pains again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? How long have people waited before skating on a sprain? Should I get an ankle support or somthing? I was gonna order one, but wasn't sure if there would be any point wearing it whilst skating, as it probably wont allow much movement.

thanks
Lester

skate with the pain....that's what i did.....probably not much help to your ankle though.

take copious amounts of painkillers chased with cheap beer, preferably malt liquor. and dont whine.

just stay off you bored until it goes away?

or even better just skate with it.

get a support if u want, but avoid it if possible because persistent use of the support will cause the ankle to become weak which will be a problem. stay off the board until your ankle gets better. if its starts paining bad again, stop skating, cos if u dont. it will lead the worse problems with your ankle later down the road.

exercise your ankle too.
one tip that i have is take off your shoes and socks. close your eyes and stand one leg ( your sprained leg ) if u are doing right, u should be balancing on your bad ankle. this is good because it exercises all the muscles in your ankle..

hope that helps

I have sprained my ankle many times. The first time i went to hospital cause my mom thought i had broken it cause it had swollen up a hell of a lot. They pressure-bandaged it and told me not to skate. I also had to do exercises(just moving my ankle).

Next time i did it i just skated it. Made it a lot worse, i wouldn't advise this.

The next few times(around 3) i just bandage it and do 'light exercise'. Like rolling around and stuff. Try to avoid popping your board. This will just make it take longer.

It usually takes about 2-4 weeks to be back to normal, depending on what you do and how badly its injured.
