yeah... vans are awesome... and designed for skating.. so you can't go wrong. And speaking of old school, they were the original skate shoe... GANGSTER! thats's right! Gor for vans (off the wall!) (The vans no skools are pretty sick)

The only shoes I've ever skated that were considered "old school" were some old school vans. They didnt have good padding and hurt my heels on stair tricks. I wouldnt suggest anything old school unless your gonna turn into a pool guy. Thats just me.

I have no idea how they did it in the 80's but skating in converse hurt. When I was younger I tried to rock a pair and the felt near the toe cap holed up in a few sessions. I lost so many pair of socks during that time. As old skool as they are there deffinatly not worth it. Old skool vans are a bit better. I had the rowley classics which didnt last long either but they were wicked comfy.

I've been skating both since the 70's. Cons are great but you need to put a padded insole in there for more cushion. I'm skating some leather Chucks now with insoles and they work great. Vans have always been my 1st choice though. Their "Gumbottum" sole are the best.

ummm Vans.... Why are converses "designed for basketball performance" when most use them for skating? Converses are like paper.

The Vans will hold out better, converses just fray and fall to pieces in no time, my friend had some and ruined them after a days skating. Vans look better aswell IMO.

A lot of bowl skaters skate barefoot. There was actually an article on it in the latest concrete wave. Hahaha. I use Vans and they are pretty much awesome.

I don't even know why people buy Converse shoes. They have poor construction which isn't even worth $20. They're short, long and narrow which looks like shit.

Converse are old school. They're great skate shoes, like I said before you just add an insole for a litttle extra padding. They're alot cheaper than other skate shoes too. My leather Chucks have lasted for 5 months so far and still have alot of life left.

1. Converse aren't ****ing skate shoes.
2. Converse shoes are shitty for everything (just wearing them is retarded, and they last 5 minutes when you skate in them)

We all know they aren't skate shoes, but an aweful lot of people skate in 'em here in SoCal. A little bitter for a casual topic aren't we ?
