USB Codec for Preimire

Hey all, I have Premerie up and running, but noticed a huge flaw.. it only supports DV, via Firewire. It states that I need a plugin inorder to use other types of inputs.. is there a plugin that I can get that allows me to use USB as my input device?
So, I can go from Mini DV uploading via USB, opposed to having to spend money on a Firewire cable.. plus, I'm not even sure if my FireWire input works on my motherboard.
Any help is appreciated.

well firewire is definatly worth the extra money.(which isn';t much). It means you get no quality loss and can capture easier, and premiere loves it.
