I'm just asking if anyone took pictures of him (or her...wtvr), doing some moves (park, rails, half pipe). I'll post some at the end of the season.

Yup would be nice to see some photo's around here. I don't have any that I can find but this season has been terrible for Ontario.
I've been out only twice this whole season. I might be going out Tues to a local hill but it depends on weather. It's raining right now so I doubt it.. :(

Ya I was planning taking pictures and doing a small movie during the weekend with some friends.....but I was raining today. I went to the hill anyways....but at the end of the days, the landings were all crapped up and the jumps were like...yellow because of the rain and the snow and it became some icy shit, so I almost broke my head. Anyways, let's just hope that it's gonna start snowing.

Something nice 'bout canada is that there is a lot of ski resort. Something bad bout canada's ski resort is that everything is kinda REALLY expensive. You can buy a coke for about 4 USD, while a pack of 24 would cost the same thing at the supermarket....no kidding. Anywayz....snowboarding rules.....

What resort are you talking about? I've never been to any resort that charges $4 USD for a coke. Maybe $2.50 CAD but never $4 US!
Snowboarding is expensive, that's the reason lots of people don't ride. I made due by using our skiidoo in my backyard (115 acres). We made some kickers and snowboarded all over so you can practise whenever you like. Just make sure your tow rope is long enough.
This doesn't match a good resort though :( The good thing is that you can actually build your own jumps and rails and you don't have other stupid skiiers or snowboarders messing them up :D

No really...it was Fking expensive.....(Mt Tremblant, Qc). I paid 15 bucks for a hot dog, a hamburger and a fking coke !!!!

my friend took a pic of me with his digi cam. i got decent air off a nice kicker on moonshadow at holiday valley (if you've ever been there). the conditions were quite shitty so the jumps were not in the best condition. enjoy

Thats some pretty sweet air, I think the best air I have gotten before would have to be an Indy 10 Foot above the ground off a 4 foot snow ramp we made our selves wide enough for only snowboard so It makes a challenge to hit the ramp perfect :D

"decent" air?? ya it mkight be decent if the kickers like 1 foot.... thats like 4 feet....
super am- 10 feet? nice. how long have u been boardin? for me the biggest air (inculding ramp) would be like 15 feet.... its a 9 foot table top so err its not really that high.... u lose a bunch of speed so u dont get too high..... and the biggest air measuring from the lip would be about 6 feet off a 3 foot kicker.... i was carvin and freeridin and i didnt see it cuz me goggle had a bunch of snow... i was surprised i landed it
Note: measures might not be right... im not good at guessing that stuff.

Ya lots of people really overevaluate their air. I saw some guy that was jumping a 15 feet long tabletop (with about a 6 feet kicker), and he though he had 25 feet of air. Well that's plain impossiblilityness (if that's a word). If you're starting at boarding, you're usuatly getting 3/4 of the kicker's height. When you practice and get technique, you can almost double the kicker's height in air. (6 feet kicker means almost 12 feet air). Me and my friends usually go to a mountain called Stoneham, and they've got a multiple kicker tabletop (1 at 15ft, 1 at 20ft and one at 30ft of flat-top). On the side of the jump, there's a pannel with lines and heights. I did about 14 feet air on a 30 feet tabletop wich had about 8 feet of height.

ya im not positive thats wut my friends said so im not sure.... and they maybe gave me some to encourage me... or took some to discourage me cuz they want to be better than me.... lol.
one of my friends was talkin shit all day at school about how hes so much better and we went and he broke his arm doing an indy off a 4 foot table top.... he had like 2 foot of air! when people talk shit and cant back it up... its funny!

Ya.....at my school, we have that "snow club" were we go 10 times a year at some resort with friends.....and that guy was like "That's gonna be nive shit.....let's do park all day, **** off riding, let's just do jumps and rails". I didn't know him, so i was like "Nice, some1 who knows wut he's talking about". When we were there, on the top of a lil hill to get speed for the 1st jump, he said he'd do a indy just to get in the mood, so he just took some speed, but just when he was beginning to climp the tabletop, he turned to lose speed.....he didn't clear the jump at all.....he jumped about 2 feet long and 1 feet high, and didn't have time to grab. The bad thing about this is that this is his best move of the season :D.

I don't think ppl are bitches with 1st year boarders. I'm finishing my 8th season of snowboarding, and at the beginning, no-one ever old me like "man, don't try, you'll never do it". And no-one was ever pissed off because I was a beginner, and that's because I wasn't telling other ppl that I was good.

We built our own jump at Hockley Valley Resort (If you live in Ontario, you would know what hockley is like) so heres me getting some air from our jump.

:mad:boarder420 was kind of bein a bitch but i dont think he knew that i was a rookie boarder, i did that jump on my 9th time snowboarding EVER. I think i deserve some credit, some ppl still snowboard at a walking pace on their 9th time.

tihkal.....do you put your feet on duck stance (I just noticed that by loking at your pic).......I cant understand how ppl can ride like this......Maybe you're ok with it, but if you're a rookie, I don't think it's the best way to learn.
mikejl29

Duck stance is horrible. For a beginner, I think the easiest was to learn is back foot at 0 degrees, and front should be between 10-20 degrees.

i dont use duck stance, i have my back foot at 0 degrees but i took a spill on the jump before and my extremely low quality bindings loosend up. im getting a new board for next season. i have shitty stuff cuz i didnt know if i would like snowboarding or not cuz this was my first year but its ****ING WICKED:D :D :D :D :D

03-30-2002, 01:09 AM
Ya well if you buy a new board/boots/bindings for next seasons.....I suggest you to buy the K2 Spitfire or Spitfire wide board.....it's the best board I've tried in my life...****ed up board. For the boots, I'd say any Ride boots, and for the binding, the Ride/Preston are wicked.

I usually board at Blue Mountain. I spend a lot of time in the Badlands which you now need consent forms signed by your parents to enter it because its soo good now. But now I am moving to the UK so I plan to board all over Europe.

Boarding in europe's nice....I was there for the spring break, we boarded in the alps in france....the offtrail is damn nice...but don't go there for the parks....cuz they never work on them, and they get all shitty....that's like this for like 90% of the mountains.

tihkal, u were doing jumps by ur 9th time? it's my first snowboard season too, but i was landing 3 foot airs by the 2nd time i went, how long do u snowboard each time u go out? or did u just not think about building a jump? i got into jumps cause there was a couple of other snowboarders there and they kinda invited me to come along to the jump, when i went for a second try i (stupidly) tried a backside 180 and ended up landing on my face so i had about 2 litres of snow up my nose. anyway i persisted and by my 8th time landed my first b/s 180 (i was so happy i almost soiled my pants in joy), but part of the fun was that there were older and more experienced snowboarders there who weren't even trying to 180 AND there were chicks watching (which enabled me to gather material for the 'perv stuff on the lifts' thread), oh yeah, my stance is 24 on front and 6 on rear, does anyone think i should change it? i'll try and post some pics here later
