What does everyone think about grip tape art? I would really like to do some more grip tape art, but I'm not really experienced. I just started doing it last night. I made it with oil pastels. If anyone has any info or knows a site with any info on it, please let me know. And if you have a picture of grip tape art, post it here.

I dont know about painting on the grip but my friend made a quite good design on his board by cutting out triangles with a knife.

i personally prefer making a stencil out of paper or posterboard and paint my deck with spraypaint. it works really well and doesn't take away the grippyness of the grip tape (but it will if you put more than one layer of paint).
if you're good you can make some really cool designs.

Well wouldn't the oil in the paint seep into the roughness of the grip-tape and make it smooth? If it works alright I might try it.
What I do though is cut a design in my grip-tape and then stick the grip-tape on my board, making sure the design is small enough, and on a location that my feet don't need traction to do tricks on. It's real cool looking. If you do that though, make sure you do it right and plan ahead so that you don't have a design you messed up real bad making your board look all ugly.
To cut it out, I pencil draw it until it looks right then I marker over the pencil lines so I can see it better when I am using the razor-knife to cut out the design/picture.

(ack, my left leg's quadriceps are messed up from skating!! I hate recovering!)

Use paint pens. They don't mess up the grip and they look great.

another thing that works really well are those gel markers sounds kinda stupid but they work
you gotta be careful when you draw because the marker gets chewed up so i did it by makin a bunch of dots when im done ill put up a pic

i think griptape art is the kewlest thing ever to happen to griptape...(i know that looks stupid) i was watchin a tv show last week (sk8 on nbc) and they had this WICKED GOOD gipatpe artist on it, the final product was amazing, i wanna findout the guy who did that and get my deck like that(especially the one that "Dim" does at the end, if anyone watched the show you'd know what im talkin about.. the guy doesnt use paint markers he uses the tape, and then paints sections of it jst to mae it lok mre cool... I'm gunna go paint some designs on mine griptape with my paint markers on the way to skater island, long trip,

i think griptape art is really cool

the problem i have is that in colorado it's all muddy so i can't have it last for too long :( , (cept in the summer)

so anyway up here it's kinda pointless except in the summer.
