I think that you could be sponsored my a local shop or maybe a smaller skate company. Also, to the others who post in this thread, please do not say anything like, "don't worry about being sponsored" I know I am not the only one who tires of hearing people say that when ever someone asks about anything related to sponsorships and I am sure sam knows all of this already.

It was good, but I don't think it would get your sponcored. I think you need to do some switch stuff, and skate a wider selection of obstacles; steps, drops. Good work though, keep it up

Thank you all for not being like "you dont need to think about getting sponcered." " its not important." well it was just a thought so thank you guys for not being jerks about it. and thank you rankz for being honest. :)

IDK, there are a lot of kids at the local park that can rip shit up, like hardcore, and they aren't sponsored. But you might as well try. I'm sure it majorly depends on the talent pool in your area.

Depends on what the skaters are like in your area, but I personally think that there wasn't enough variety in it.

Nope. All basic warm-up tricks. You can try, but don't expect it.

i was sponsored by my local shop up until it closed this year, and people would give them sponsor videos and we'd all watch them. Based on that experience i would say this isn't good enough for getting sponsored*. But what's almost equally important is being close to the guys who run the shop. If you're not friends with the guys and they don't know you, i'd say there's an almost zero chance that they'd sponsor you. 90% of the kids on the team at my shop didn't even give a sponsor video, including me.

one more thing is that you need to get some street footage. shops typically get way more psyched if you're skating street spots than local skate parks.

Well at least you're good enough to even try and not get laughed at unless you sent it in to like Zero or something.

You could be good enough someday. You have all the basics down, just learn the slightly more difficult things. It looks like you're at a point where you could learn a better trick without too much practice. The biggest difference I see between the pros and just normal skaters is speed. You rarely see a skater in a video not going near as fast as they can. The faster you do a trick, the more impressive. Just go faster.

Kickflip front crooks, nollie backside flips, 360 flips, switch frontside heelflips, kickflip backside tailslide to fakie, nollie boardslides down 8, gap to frontside noseslide, switch flip fakie manual fakie frontside 180 out, basically a lot of stuff that takes a couple more years. Getting sponsored now is no joke. It takes time and dedication, so just focus on getting better for now.

Skate or Try
10-20-2005, 06:40 PM
not a chance, i'll be blunt. There are so many more talented skaters out there, i mean honestly pick up any video mag and you'll have heard of hardly anyone. So not at the moment mate.

Do some flip tricks to grinds, skate some stairs...Not the simple ollie down them.Try bigspins,Varial kicks you know..Not a simple 5 or 6 either.Try 8 or 9.You have mad potential i must say though.Another year youll be way better.Your at the point where tricks are coming easier to you.Like i said before do some switch stuff and all.

What part of Ohio do you live in?
You should try and learn lipslides down that rail. That would be sweet.
...Then do them switch :D

Dude, look at all the skaters out there today. The ones with sponcers are really good.
Give yourself a couple of years then make a sponcer me tape. For now, just skate for the fun of it.

Sorry but no way, when you skate blocks you need to skate alot faster do better things than 50.50s and 5.0s and if you do 5.0s get a flip out or 180 out. More things down rails, get smiths down and stuff like that. Do not do early grabs if your trying to have impressive skating because they don't look that nice. Get smiths on quarters, skate transition fast aswell.

You can do all that? thats amazing.
I didn't say I could. I'm saying that's what you need at the very least. Have you heard of Sean Malto? At 15 he was doing salad grind to fakie down 16 stair handrails before he was even put on AM for Girl. I saw him skate firsthand when I went to visit my Mom in Missouri. He's super-good. Don't get down on yourself just because we are saying you aren't good enough to be sponsored yet. Just keep practicing and things will fall into place.

Wait. I swear to God, I think I saw you in ATL back in December Christmas day when I was at a layover to go to Peru. I'm not even kidding. This guy looked EXACTLY like you. Wow...and yea, I think yoru very good, and personaly I wouldn't be surprised if you won a intermediate comp and some guy offered you a small sponsorship or something. Keep at it, and I gauruntee you will eventually be sponsored.

the fact that people can get sponsored without being able to spell it is very disheartening
scarecrow476
02-13-2006, 07:00 PM
How about no....because spelling sponser right on an online forum doesn't mean anything as to whether your sponsored or not, and idk if I've said this but congradulations sam.
