well.. I have a 20 foot long, 2.5 foot high mini in my garage, it was a tight fit, we have a 3 car garage and it took up one of the car spots... Maybe more.
It costed my 600 bucks, so a quater would probably be 70-100 bucks... Depending what materials you use, which I would recomend using some good solid wood, spend alot of money so you don't have to re-build it over and over. Try rampplans.org and find a good mini plan and just build 1/4 of the frame, would work good, then you can modify the plans to get that you want.
I doubt you want to make your quater in a garage, it would be hard to get speed, unless you can have the garage door open so you can start outside, then do the tricks.
I might be making a very small quater pretty soon, maybe after christmas to add to a mini skate park I'm making.

Dont put it in your garage. I have a 4 foot high, 8 foot wide quater with a 4 foot wide deck and masonite on it. It skates really well even though im not good at vert. Its hard enough for me to get speed for a rock to fakie outside. Depending on your ability, a 3 foot mini might be more fun and easier to learn on. You will spend a lot more than 100 dollars on it for a 4 foot. You should use two layers of 1/4 or 3/8 plywood for the surface and 3/4 inch plywood for the side pieces. Use 1 1/4 black metal pipe for coping. Search on google for plans, I forget what plans I used but it worked out real well. I used a piece of galvanized steel about 8-10 inches wide and 8 feet long for my transition onto the pipe. Its super smooth with that and the masonite.

I found it, this is the exact ramp that I built. I added the metal to the bottom for the transition, it doesnt show it on the site. I got the plywood and some of the 2X4s free, if you buy everything it will cost a lot more than what it says on the site which is $187. Since when that plan was written, plywood has at least doubled in price. One thing that you should know, I dont know why he has 2X2 written on the list because you dont need it. He might have meant 4X4, which you do need. You cut it in half and use it as two legs to hold up the deck.

I made one like that and it sucked it was really sketchy there is no way you can make a solid one for that much. Carpeted garage? Why would you put a qp in a garage and especially one that carpeted? By the way you use deck screws NOT nails.
