I just started skating last Thursday and just sort of went with what felt right in terms of stance. I think the term for my stance is mongo (I ride with my right foot on the back of the board and I push with my left foot) and I just read on another site that this is incorrect. Am I doing it wrong? Will skating this way make tricks and stuff harder? How should I ride? I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm about 6'4" and 220.

Hey Monk, I ride mongo too, and I don't think its an "incorrect" way to stand or skate. I doubt it would affect your skating. one of the things i like about skateboarding is that there is no proper or "right" way to do it, you're kinda free to do what you want.

i'm sorry to say but mongo some how affects the way you skate... when I ride swith i find it easier to push mongo but like when you are getting ready to ollie you need to adjust your back foot so that you have it on the tail... so somehow mongo does affect a little bit the way you skate
