Wide Angle Lens

I've been looking into wide angle lenses for quite some time now and would like to know where I can find the best deals. All of my friends have fisheyes and although they make some look much larger than it is I like wide angle lenses much more. So, me being new at this I'd like the ask the veterans what a good deal on a wide angle lens is and if I could get a good one for around $100.

I kind of wish I had gotten a fish-eye instead of a wide angle, but I can always just get another lense after I save up some money.

Death lense is like...you point it at something and you dont even have to look at the LCD haha. It picks up alot of an image.

Tip: Listen to casanova when it comes to anything cameras. He knows his shit.

Actually they aren't the exact same thing. If you watch a movie filmed with a wide angle and a fisheye lense you will notice differences.

Atleast thats what I think. I could be wrong but I believe there are a few differences between them.

You're so hopelessly wrong (ohh anyone get it eh eh eh?) ok that sucked but, youre very wrong wide angles are made so you see wider then the regular lens wich is 90 degrees, a fisheye shows upto 165-170 degrees. wide angles do not have barell distortion. completely different things with different names ok? :-41:

in reality, all non-telephoto lenses have barrel distortion
with normal lenses, the effects are not really apparent
but with wide angle lenses, it is noticable on a monitor or other large display
and with fisheye, the effect is exaggerated to a point where it becomes characteristic of the shot

Ok I have a Canon GL1 (it's the basic 3CCD chip deeley...) and was wondering what fisheye lens to get for it. I'd really like a Century Optics one (such as the ones used in most skate videos these days) but I'm not made of money so I was wondering if a cheaper but almost as good alternative existed out there?

ok, so i have a mini DV camcorder, which lens should i get, fish eye, or wide angle? they both basically produce the same effect, so is it worth the extra money to go for the fisheye? the wide angle/fisheye will only be used for skate videos.

also, can you still get the same skate effect with a wide angle lens?

one produces less barrell distortion, and the other produces mad amounts.
its up to you, id say fisheye but thats me.
