well i dont know if its the best way but its a way what you do is there is the top string hold it down at the fith fret down and then you hit the string with the guitar pic then you go down to the second string (while you are still holdding down the other string) and you try to make them sound alike you only change the second string not the first one then when you are ready to tune the third string you hold down the second string down at the fith fret and ect ect then you just keep on going down the strings that way its not a very good way because that mean your top string would have to be tune but you guitar well be tune with the top string sorry if i made it confusing!!!!!!!!

Yeah! One more thing to add to Tuning your guitar. On the 4th string you tune...... you should be on the 4th fret not the 5th and then just go to the 5th string (the next one down) and use the 5th fret as usual. so it goes like this E:5 - A:0, A:5 - D:0, D:5 - G:0, G:4 - B:0, B:5 - E:0

Legend

E = (Bottom String) high pitched
B
G
D
A
E = ( top string) Really Deep

5 = 5th fret
4 = 4th fret
0 = open string

- no meaning just the thing i used to show you have to hit one and then the next one right after it!
: = seperator between string and fret

Diagram
(If you can read tab thats how you tune it where the | are that means do them seperately)

E---------|----------|-------|---------|-----0-----
B---------|----------|-------|-----0--|----5------
G---------|----------|---0--|----4----|-----------
D---------|-----0----|--5---|---------|-----------
A-----0--|----5-----|-------|---------|-----------
E----5---|-----------|-------|---------|----------

I hope that help anyone who has problems with tuning and/or playing a guitar period lol

so all i need now is the tuning for the top string. i can tune it regularly but i don't know how to tune to korn 'cause they use 7 string ibanez k-7's. they can play deeper than i can with a 6 string. is the top string just one step down or in drop d?
