I noticed in my bearing pack there are 4 black spacer thingamajigs. I memory serves my old arse right...they go between the bearings inside the wheels?

they keep a solid line through the whole axle. so.. imagine your wheel getting smashed in towards the middle of the truck.. the bearings could move.. but with the spacer thing, they cant, because theres something in that space. the wheel holds the outer rim of the bearing, and then the spacers hold the inner rim.

thats basically what they do. ..i think?

Yep Spenser...

They support the inner race, as the wheel holds the outside race.

So... uh, well.. Spenser basically covered it.

If they are made correctly (few are) you should be able to tighten down the wheel nuts all the way and the wheel will still spin freely. This will give you more traction and speed.

The ones that came with mine Bones Swiss were to small and just rattled so I chucked them. No one uses them that I know of. And no one I know uses those little washers that come on your trucks (always wondered what they were for, assumed to protect your bearings from wear from the nut? Maybe I'm right, don't know. Someone let me know).

The washers protect the shield of the bearing from the back of the axle nut. If the sheld gets dented, then it contacts the ball bearings inside and restricts their movement.
