As some might know i am getting back into skating after 25 years. The weather was perfect today so i thought i would check out the local park at lunch. I had the whole thing to myself! Here are some pics below of the park if you haven't seen them.
I spent most of the time getting the feel of the board. I spent a lot of time on the banks re learning how to pump. I have my Powell Oval Dragons (about 90a) on instead of the 97a Bones. A little softer and slower for my first time out since 1979. I remember back in the day my back sides were better than my frontsides. Now its just the opposite which suits me fine. I forgot how much work it is to pump. I did frontside forevers for about 20 turns on the banks and it felt great. I am having a hard time pumping on the fakies...i feel retarded going goofy foot. The Chase (street) deck seems a bit squirrely and will take getting used to until my fatty comes in.
The rest of the time i spent carving around the quarter pipes and banks, did a few Berts for old time sake and worked on getting lower for the turns. My mind remembers but my body is still full of rust. I worked up a huge sweat and quit after 45 min. completely spent...and i ride 120 miles a week on the bike.
The beefs....
I hit a piece of cement the grinders left for me and it threw me pretty hard i fought it for a second and then just rolled out of it.
I tried the quarter pipes that just pop up to vert and pussed out. I hit one pretty fast and bailed . I flew up and landed on my arse on top. The only time i spent in the bowl was when my stik landed into it.
This is where i was doing the frontside forevers...the banks to the right
