im just starting out with biking, i have a 20 inch mongoose bmx bike...and im trying to learn to wheelie, and my problem is im not leaning back far enough becuz im afraid to fall back on my head (i dont have a helmet) i already hit my head a month or two ago on a mountain bike and got a giant bump on my head, and i dont wanna relive the experience, so does anyone out there have any tips for overcoming the fear to lean back enough?

Stretch your arms, and your legs a bit but still bend
Lean back, just lean back searchin for that gravity center
You should do fine
And how the hell can you fall on your head? Wdv.
If your about to fall put your legs on the ground

maybe you'd be more comfortable if you practice jumping off so you would know that if you have to jump off you could easily, but just keep practicing

Try searching on bmxtrix.com for how to wheelie.

before i learned to wheelie, i practiced bailing. not just for the sake of bailing, but it was hard to find the CG (center of gravity) at first, so i just jumped off the back and held onto the handle bars.

it's not hard once you get it. it's just like any other trick on anything, just practice and you'll eventually get it.
