Ive been wondering this. What is considered a beginner, how good do you have to be?

"novice: someone new to a field or activity"

i think.. basically.. anyone who has just started to someone who is just learning the basics i guess. like.. ollies, kickflips, bs shove its (aka the standard one), fs 5050s, bs boardslides.. yeah.

Well in my opinion anyone who is comfortable with riding the board and can easily ollie sets onto curbs etc. is no longer a begineer.

*edit* what do you mean the standard one? Is that just what people call it.

Most people do Pop shovits Backside. FS's aren't usually done as just a FS pop shovit, there is usually something added to it. Both are Pop Shovits though, just the common one is BS.

I can barely, and i mean, BARELY, ever land a common, BS Shovit or Pop Shovit.
For Some reason i can only land my Fs shoves and Pop shovits consistantly.
its weird, because, I USED to be Mongo (just got out of that habit), and i do pop shovits FS,. Thats like, ultimate weirdness.

Anyways, back on topic.
My idea of a begginner is If you can only do "beginner" tricks ( simple ollies, not down huge monster things, or across massive gaps.. Pop shovits, Flat land kickflips, maybe on a bank, same goes for heelflips. small 50-50s, and a level, flat bar boardslide)

In my opinion, getting "un-begginer-ized" is when you start getting into the varial tricks, and bs and fs flips and all the spin+flip stuff. Also with Ollies down larger sets like 5 and up.

varials come easily with kickflips, I wouldn't consider someone with a good kickflip a begineer because he could probablly land a bunch of advanced flip tricks quickly. Ok one last question, so is frontside when it spin clockwise or counter.

I think beginner means some who began?

be·gin·ner
One that begins.
One who is just starting to learn or do something; a novice.

its not clockwise/counterclockwise.

it doesnt matter if youre regular or goofy.... fist 90 youre facing foreward, thats frontside. first 90 youre facing backward, thats backside.

its always like this, until you get to fakie. fakie, the first 90 youre facing foreward, thats backside, and vice versa. thats because fakie is a way you DO a trick, rather than a trick you use to get into something. so doing a fs 180 normal, and then rolling the other way but doing the SAME motion, it stays the same as far as whether its fs or bs, even though the way youre facing after the first 90 flips.

what i would call a begiiner is some one who is just learning how to manouver a skateboard and getting there balance right..and learning basic tricks and the ollie

a beginner is someone who can sometimes land an ollie, but can at least control his/her board
