Umm well I would just say use a cheap one to start off with. Go to a pawn shop and get a VHS one. The quality won't be bad and it doesn't matter anyway if it's only going on the web.

Mine is a normal VHS one..quality is normally good..but nothing compared to a DV camcorder. A $1,000 camcorder must come with a warranty....my bro's $4,000 one stopped working suddenly (he was boardsliding...crashed...totally wiped me out at high speeds)...so the next day..he showed up with a new one..so if your friend hasn't already, have him check the paperwork that came with his corder'.

my dad has a 1,600 dv camera, that is awesome. I steal it for skating videos whenever i get a chance. Its a sony, j something. i could get the specs and crap. But its way better quality then my digital camera i got at walmart for 80 bucks. It can also transfer camcorder video to digital, and vise versa.
