Yesterday (with the help of a teenaged "carpenter") we managed to put together a 1/4 pipe and a fun box for the boys to skate. My son can hold his own...but the neighborhood kids worry me...these kats seem way more reckless than I remember ever being. Intuition tells me that it is just a matter of time before one of them ends up bust'n their nugget in my drive way. When I skated I never considered a helmet as an option...but I was older when I started (16) and hardheaded. Now that I have the mama thang going on I can't help but to be concerned. The age groups that I am referring to are between 8 - 11...not sure if I should let these kats learn the hard way...or "make" them wear head gear? Lame question...probably, but I seriously don't know what position I should take now that the ramps are in place.
I also considered just throwing up a sign that says ""skate at your own risk"...but that just seems like I am pointing out the obvious.
