Hi everyone,
Ive never skated before in my life and im 14 y.o, and ive been wanting to get into Skating for a while... but I can bearly ride the thing... i first time i tried today i pushed the board and it slipped out from under me and i bit the concrete.
But anyway I just wanted to know is this normal? does skating around just take practice? or am i just screwed? :-10:
(also i havent tried tricks like ollie yet or anything still trying to get ahold of skating before i do that)

tons tons tons and tons of practice to get good, but once you get there you realize that the practice was all worth it and youll love skatin so much you just wish you could marry it (not really).

no dude your pretty much screwed, just give up before all your friends laugh at you and go back to bmxing. No jk..all you need to do is ride around it takes like 2 days to learn how to ride it and then once you feel comfortable learn to manual and then ollie, which will take you about a month probably so don't give up. good luck.

Took me about a week to really get control of the board, and even now I still have some problems, but I can ride around mostly anywhere for the first part. I'd just go outside, push around and try to find the niche I was supposed to be in to have good balance in control. When I was inside, I'd skate aroun in my basement, and in my living room.
I found it easier to ride when I tightened my trucks too, you may want to try that, just tighten the kingpin intill it gets to a comfortable riding level.

Just practice going in straight lines then start turning and when your happy with your balence on the board start learning tricks.

yer i did the same, just go out an find a flat bit of concrete at a park, push from one side to the other over an over. eventually you'll get good controll and will be able to start kickturns.
