Do any of you guys listen to death metal.I recently got into gridcore.I listne to bands such as Agoraphobic Nosebleed,Morbid Angel,Dying Fetus, and Slipknot(before they went alternative.)In addition to that i am working on how to play Death Metal on my drums.Not a song in particular just
"Death Metal" as the certain genre of music.What do you guys think about death metal.Post your favorite "Death Metal" songs, singers,Drummers,CD's ect.

I wouldnt really label Slipknot as Death Metal. Only like 1-2 of thier songs you can really call death metal.

Grind-core is so heavy that its basically noise they use like like drop A tunning on there guitars. i personnnaly hate death metal

Yeah, the Locust is fantastic. Over on Musicianforums.com, we ended up using Locust as every word in the In Grind We Crust thread. The point is, grindcore is fantastic. However, I've been into Power-Violence more then grindcore recently. Bands like Charles Bronson and ACxDC.

The way I see it, Death Metal can either be good, or they can just freaking blow huge. and 50% of the Death Metal Bands i've heard are not good. There are exceptions, so I'm not completely Down on the whole "death metal scene" (if there is one).

No, not at all. Black metal is music in it's most basic and primitive form. Dissonant chords and notes portray and sonic soundscape that takes more pride in being brutal, dark, and melancholic rather than snobby and technical.

Black metal is NOT Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir. Black metal is Burzum, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Mutiilation, Emperor, Immortal, Vlad Tepes, Countess, Sacramentum and stuff similar to that.

Death metal is more technical for the most part, emphasizing dropped tuning more often and a guttural chortle rather than black metal's icy wails. Death metal is stuff like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Suffocation, Cyptopsy, Aborted, Necrophagist, Vital Remains etc. I personally like some death metal, but not as much as black metal and thrash. Even though I credit death metal for getting me into music.

And for those who say "death metal sucks, you can't hear the vocals and it takes no talent to scream like that." I played lead guitar and vocals for a melodic death metal band and it takes alot more talent than most forms of music out there today. Especially rap. I have clips of my old band to prove it as well.

YES! F*ck Im Dead is sweet. And for the duder who posted this thread, for death metal you dont need to be that great at drumming to play death metal. Just be really really good at double bass. and you can basically just play really fast 16th notes and 32nd notes alternating from snare to cymbal with your hands. good death metal bands

geezo, i searched for the lyrics. They're a bit much...their songwriter has problems man. The good thing about it is that if you listen to one of their songs you can't make out any of the words anyway. I listened to masturbation at the stam (or something along that lines) and i had to try very hard to listen if there were actually any vocals in there at all. All you can hear is this fast mayhem of heavy downtuned instruments and what sounds like a horrid engine growling away.

Death metal is more like...Malevolent Creation, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, and so on.
"Envenomed" by Malevolent Creation is one of the most intense albums ever made. Namely the song "Pursuit Revised"

Not at all. Black metal is much, much different than death metal. And not all black metal is even satanic. The best ones (like Burzum, the guy in my avatar), are more about nature or norse/scandinavian mythology (a thousand times more interesting than any satanist or christian lyrics)

Deicide is good deathmetal, it sounds like a derranged gerbill....but its still great. but ya Im more into Black metal, I heard slaughter of the soul by at the gates and that renewed my liking for the genre, But emperor has to be one of the best black metal bands of all time

joey jordison is just the best drummer ever. i went to the concert in london 2002 and i caught 1 of his sticks n got it signed. it was the best thing ever man. mosh galour. the only problem with death metal is that if u listen 2 it then all the chavs or watever they are called in america start calling you sweaty b******s. ermm..... bands..... caliban, they're good.... eighteen visions.... alexisonfire.....god forbid......atreyu....dunno if bullet for my valentine cum under death metal.... ermmmm and there r sum more. i like death metal. some songs relax me. good luck wiv the drummin. i play them to. double bass n everything. i can now play duality by slipknot. kick ass song
