Huge Ollie drop

Checked out the park in Reno today. I didn't skate just went to check it out. They have a nice halfpipe bowl and a huge street venue. They had this 8 - 10 foot pool with about 2 feet of vert. Looked pretty fun.

The point of this story was this kid maybe about 17 was Ollieing into the deep end from the deep end. He was popping up maybe two feet, then dropping straight into the flat bottom of the pool. The board would come off his feet about 5 feet from the bottom and he would just land on his feet with a tooth jarring slam and fall over. He would then get up, chuck his stik out of the pool all pissed off. He attempted this three times getting more and more pissed at his board the whole time. Other kids were standin around all disgusted with him.

I mean other than horror factor and huge balls...what was the point?

I really doubt there was a point to it, but doesn't it feel good landing a really hard Trick? I mean....You don't have to try it if it gets you all pissy such as a trick like this.

What do you mean whats the point? Thats like questioning skating itself.... Whats the point of skating? Droping down stairs only to get slammed into concrete, flip a chunck of wood around, sliding on bars of metal.. it's skating theres no real point to it, its just fun.

Not getting pissy...he sure was. It was more of an observation of his attitude...blaming the skate etc. Oh I was impressed with the balls and the mere attempt...he didn't LOOK like he was having any fun hence the reason i questioned the point.

Well yeah, just 3 try's and he got mad, thats stupid. But after a million times of trying to stick a trick down a drop or stairs the pain makes you mad.
