Ive been looking around on the forums and there is just too much useless garbage that has no point to it and I dont believe it should be on the forums. There are topics that will never end (cool game), topics that ask for stupid information that people are obviously going to contradict eachother on (Whats the best board in the world?) and then theres posts that just state the obvious (The forums are boring). I think some of these threads need to be closed and deleted. This is just my opionion and there are probably going to be people who disagree with me but I dont really care. Im just trying to build a better community with more point to it.

I agree...but the thing is...
"What is the best board?"
"What's your favorite brand?"
"What's the bestest brand ever?"
Sure..some of those ways are better than others, but we can't delete someone's post, because they word their questions poorly. As for cool game...yes. Punkrock, and myself both would love to delete them...but there's honestly no *real* serious reason. If I had the 'ok', I'd do it in a heartbeat. One way to help out, however...is to report a useless post, and make the reason explaining your thoughts about it. I check my mail very often (I'm online a lot)...so if I am the first to the post, I'll most likely get rid of it...if there is a good reason.

I see what you mean Mrock. I would also suggest that if people are asking questions about the "best board" they be a lot more specific about their price range, if they want pro boards, ro if they are looking for a specific feature individualy (eg. durability). Just some advice to make things run more smoothly.

Some people are just lazy and/or are bad at wording stuff. For a lot of them, you gotta let it slide, you know? But the cool game post is now closed...

I am aware that some people have troubles wording stuff and I am forgiving of that but lazyness isnt too good in getting your question answered. Thank you for closing the cool game post. It was just getting too big and too pointless.

Man i'm going to make a useless thread here. I mean yeah there are a lot of use less threads in here and this is one that's why there is "Report this post to a moderator" button so that you say why it's useless so now i'm going to report this as useless...

I was stating the abundance of useless threads and trying to give ideas as to how to make posts more useful and have some point to them.

exactly man...all these useless threads including most of mine should be deleted but some of them may hold a certain alue to a certain person which means we have no right to take that away from them but moderators...Do what you must!

Personally, I think useless posts are ok, considering that this in itself is a useless post.

Everyone who has posted here...had good intentions...and it's VERY appreciated by me. Tonight, I'll dedicate my night to going over as many of the forums as possible, and deleting JUST useless posts'. If there is a slightly remote use for it..it will stay..

yeh but Mrock i know you have now deleted it but some of these posts are good for some people...some people have different ideas of what is good and what isnt....like the cool game...some people may have liked that...what i suggest now is making a poll for people to vote to which font they want to have removed, and after a week remove that post(s)!:D

The cool game thread got to be too big and it didn't have a point to it or maybe the point was to get the biggest thread possible. I don't know. Regardless, there is a point to this thread SIM. The point is to address the issue of useless threads.

Another problem with these forums, is people have different views on what is useless or not, and the majority of them don't have very good views. Alot of members post something that has nothing to do with the subject, or could've been stated in one post instead of 3 or 4. Also, they do find a useless post, and instead of reporting it to the moderators, they make a useless post themselves by stating that it is a useless post. Also, people will make either useless threads, or threads that you can't tell what the topic is about and have to ask. I could go on for a while, but I'm going to stop now and see if anyone else can figure out/post some more problems.

well one idea is well yah know how some threads get REALLY long and change topics all the time? well you could go through the thread and delete the old posts from old topics that no one is talking about... but it might be complicated to do that too.. well it's just an idea! ~Ash

U got to still think about how many ppl think it's useless. Like if sum1 said "cool man." sum1 might say it's useless, but others will probally think it's not useless cause it's expressing an opinion about the said topic

could the mods possibly delete threads after about 5 days (or any number) if that thread isn't getting any new posts cause if you look in the trick tips forum then there are quite a few threads that havnt had any new posts for about 1 - 2 weeks and that clogs up the forums quite a bit...
ps. if you ppl find any of my posts useless then feel free to delete them/send them 2 hell (or whatever you do to them... lol) cause i dont/won't mind if they dissapear cause all i want to see is RR forums in good working order all the time

I have to admit there are a lot of useless threads and too much arguing (that i sadly contributed to) All of you are right. it really sucks when you only have a few minutes and i come on here... to check stuff and i have to sort through retarded threads and stupid meaningless posts. I dont want to name names... so i wont but 2 certain people seem to make a lot of threads... that are almost the same and theres already threads like it. These 2 people seem to make about 10 threads a day.... I dont know sorry for the ramble and rant. have a good day everyone

I've already spoken to you through PM's..if you really believe useless posts' are vital to this site's appeal..then you can continue making them, but you won't be here much longer..just remember that.
This thread is old. It was created in 2002..and it is now 2004! The problem was pretty bad. Sean (blind) and I spent a whole night cleaning the forums up as much as possible, it was a LOT of work. If the users here want cleaner forums, you need to help out, be reporting threads that you believe are useless. If you do that, it could help out more. Mods are like all other users here, and our time on the boards are limited, so it would go a lot smoother if reported posts' were used more often. At least that way, it would allow us to cover more ground, so to speak.
