Hey, Im 14 and most my friends skate, and I never got around to learning before, but I realy want to now. My friend said I should, but I was wondering...Is it too late? All of em have been skating for a while so Id be realy bad compared to them, then being called a ***** ( i dont even know what that means.) So in your opinion should i learn or just giv it up?

***** is a gay phrase...Nobody around here uses that word because all of the good skaters just make fun of them for it.
14 is fine, I have a friend that is 19 that started at 16...he is good.

hey im 20 and im just now getting started. NOTHING is too late whe your 14! trust me on that. dont worry about people calling you a *****. thats the dumbest thing to call someone ive ever heard. thats like saying to someone in a shirt for their favorite football team "Hey! you dont play in the NFL! your a *****!" seriously just forget those people. i heard that all the time in middle school, never again in high school.

Oh and one more question, Do I HAVE to get a blank board? :/
If money is the issue im willing to spend a little more on a deck, but how fast does a first board usually break? Cuz if its fast then yea ill go with something relay cheap

yeah and you should only skate if you want to and not what other people think. i know this dude who skated for 3 months and hes 50 times better than me and hes older

im no expert but i say you dont have to buy a blank. i jsut bought my first board and its a AWS. its got indy trucks and spitfire wheels and TM bearings. but im a college student and $120 aint too bad to me cause i have a very well paying job. so its all relative to what you can and are willing to spend.
since im still new im prolly not the best person to take advice from. but i would think your first board would last longer than boards after you get good. this is due to the fact that you wont be able to ollie down like 7 sets or do huge board slides or anything so your not putting as much stress on the board. basically at first your just learing to roll and ollie then kick flip and what not. so i would get what you want/can afford

So I hear lots of stuff like these boards suck, these break and i was wondering if any of these brands are worth trying?
Alien Workshop (thats AWS right?)
Black Label
Birdhouse
Darkstar

Alien Workshop (thats AWS right?)- Yes it is and they are good. Good shape and strength.
Black Label- NO
Birdhouse- NEVER. Terrbile everything.
Darkstar- Strong but shitty boards. Bad shape and weight.
Zero?- No.

get bones bearings and a blank maple deck, autobahn or spitfire wheels, cheapish trucks like venture or rapture and then if you really get into skating. buy better ones like tensor or indy. but dont blow your wod on an expensive board if your gonna quit a month later...

Dude, for a begginer it doesn't matter what board you get, as long as its got decent shape, won't exactly be snapping off curbs and stuff lol, when you get to sets and ledges it matters, although by that time you'll have a new board ^_^
