I agree, most "Pro Decks" cost the same, every once in a while there is a flux, but not often. But yeah, local companies/blanks are cheaper, but if you go to a shop they're mostly the same price. And for the record, Habitat = Sexy goodness.

the "flux" would only be because of a..

1. sale - the store selling it puts it on sale

2. niceprice/etc - habitat, for example, makes boards with all natural colored wood and simple graphics that require only a couple simple colors.. the boards are cheaper to make so they take off a few dollars, not that theyd need to.

3. problem with the board - for example, our shop has a super warped mystery deck for 10$

4. the shops choice - a shop wouldnt do this if they knew what they were doing, but they might have some decks for cheaper if they cost less to them.. like they might sell world industries for cheaper than foundation, because foundations cost almost twice as much to the shop, because foundation uses better products and processes, so the cost of production is more.. therefor they sell it for more to make up for that cost, and to make a profit.

raw materials start out very cheap.. then they dye them and process them and sell that for more money.. then they put it together and that costs money to do so they sell that for more.. then the shop buys it and they need to cover shipping and make a profit so they sell it for more.


a lot of skate shoes only cost a few dollars to make, but through all these sellers in the line of business and production, the price climbs each time.

world industries - cheaper materials - cheaper construction - cheaper board

foundation - good materials - good construction - more expensive board


wholesale = the distributor selling to the shop; the price the shop pays for the boards

world industries wholesale = about 19$

foundation wholesale = about 36$


then the shop sells both boards for say.. 55$ maybe? thats just how it is. they make a bigger profit off of the cheap board (world) but kids dont know the difference, so they can still get away with selling them for the same price as the good boards.
