Alright so I started skateboarding yesterday! Yeah! My friend is teaching me how to ollie. I can get an inch of air, but thats about it. Anyway I can improve that? Whenever I try to get higher air I lose the deck.

Make sure you drag your foot as far as you can, tuck your legs up, and make sure you jump before the tail hits the ground. Welcome to skating. Population: Cool people. Be ready for injuries.

the faster you go = the quicker you learn them when you fall your mind tries to stop it from happening again so it tries to do it right the next time if your scared about going fast and trying it where some pads

For ollies I always tried to remember to stomp your foot down hard and make sure you stomp, then slide your foot up. Remember to suck your back foot up once you stomp it (try to get it a little higher than your front foot) and try to put as little weight as possible on the board while you are in the air. Make sure you aren't bringing your front foot straight up into the air, I try to bring it up at an angle of about 45 degrees. And lastly, keep in mind the board can only go as high as you jump. Hope this helps and try give feedback on what works and what doesn't.

I wouldn't describe it as stomping your foot down. I'd say snap it down and jump before it hits the ground.

this is like the millionth ollie thread, anyways you cant rush it cuz ollies dont magically happen when you want it to. so...practice

it took me a month to get a good moving ollie. But after you get it good you can basically ollie as high as you can jump. Just pop and jump as high as you can and land it's basically just jumping to get higher if you got the popping motion down.

i find moving ollies miles easier than stationary cuz the board wont slip out from under me. (try thm stationary by resting the wheels in a crack in the sidewalk so the board cant move)

like the man said try to flick the tail down with your back foot-you gotta do it quick (the quicker & smoother-the better)

Go skate

well if you have a freind teaching you then Id HIGHLY suggest listening to him. Because him Telling you what to do in person and teling you where ur feet are and all that IN person is 10000 times more helpful then letters on a screen can tell you

but for what its worth, try popping harder and sliding your foot further up(put ir closer to the back b4 u ollie) and learn them moving

it took me about a week to learn the ollie. now i ollie over a foot every time. it really helps to not think about it and just say "im gonna nail it. im gonna nail it." it can help! you should also not think about popping the board and should justjump off your back foot. also you should do it while moving so that when you jump you move foward and stay on the board. your front foot will drag up the board too. just keep practicing and you'll get it!!
