Well I haven't seen many topics on editing with Windows Movie Maker(WMM).But Ive decided to write up an easy to understand guide on how to do everything from capturing to exporting.
If you wish to download windows movie maker simply go to www.windows.com and download it for free.
1.To get your footage onto the computer
First of all your going to need to upload your footage onto the internet.If you dont know how to do this please refer to the video guide sticky.
2.Capture that footage
Open up Windows Movie Maker.Go under file at the top and look down there should be a capture bar.Click that then it should automatically find your camera and then you just follow the instructions.There pretty much self explanitory but if you cannot figure it out then Private Message me and ill help.
3.Import it
You need to hit the import button located in the movie tasks on the left.If the movie tasks bar is not there you need to enable it manually through the View option on the top bar.Once you click it you find your footage that was captured or in some cases once you capture it its automatically in there.If so just ignore this step and move on.
4.Timeline
Down at the bottom of the screen there is three bars.Your going to want to drag the footage down into the "VIDEO"bar.Then you can simply edit your footage by clicking on it and dragging it.This is reversible so if you make a mistake don't freak out just right click delete then simply add it again.
5.Titles and credits
Just to mention this is not required but it does make your video better.You can change the font size color and position.You can also change the background colors.
6.Exporting
Find the "Finish Movie" option in the movie tasks screen.Then save it to a file.Then find a hosting site(I will list these at the bottom) and follow the instructions there.
Well that covers the main part and now here comes the little things that you may want to add to your video to add an effect.
Music
Well this is like uploading video.Under Movie tasks there is an option of importing music.From then you find the music file,import it then drag it down under the "MUSIC" bar on the timeline.From there you can edit the length by dragging on it.Also if you right click you can mess with the fade,volume etc...
Video Effects
To find these go under movie tasks video effects.Then go down where the three bars are and click show storyboard.There is your clips all seperated.You simply just drag them and drop them in the clip and your done.All the effects are pretty much self-explanitory.
Video Transitions
These are pretty cool.Find them in the movie tasks.There all self explanitory and you need to be in the storyboard to insert these.IN between the clips there are smaller boxes.You put the video effects in those.Don't overuse the same one.Mix it up a bit.
