Ramprage
07-17-2002, 10:12 PM
Only moderators and admins can post in the announcements area but members can reply to posts we create.

The site and forum have been running smoothly for a long time now and we've seen lots of posts build up which were useless. The moderators have put a huge dent in the forums with the cleanup (which is a good thing) and gotten rid of most of the junk posts.

We're still in the process of cleaning up the forums and excess posts but most of the work has been done. I would appreciate it if everyone would try and only post when you actually have something to say. The thread "Cool Game" was getting completely out of hand.

I'd like to thank everyone for their cooperation. This will make the forums faster and make it easier for everyone to find useful information.

Thanks,

Ramprage

I've made two posts to people about useless posts/threads, lol. Yeah, when they did the forums clean-up the forums lost about 3,000 posts. There was so much crap that didn't need to be there, I read over alot of it, and there was absolutly no point to them. Great to see a new section up. Oh yeah, Congrats on the award, keep up the great work ;)

The award is givin for creativity, originality, and a all around good site. As you can se, RR.com meets all those requirements plus a whole lot more.

Edit: Here's the link to the article about the award.

How come I wasn't notified of this "cleanup"?;)
I've just been doing it regularly whenever I saw a bad post, but I've never done a "spree" of some sort.
I guess I'll go delete John's post now....

At least my part of it...was when we lost about 3,000 posts'. Blind was helping a ton with the Lobby...we both were at that for a couple hours...that wasn't official then...just decided to do some work. The sad thing is, there shouldn't have been as many useless posts' as there were...us mods need to do a better job, in my opinion. Then, there wouldn't be the need for a cleanup.

Well maybe if I actually had the power to delete posts*cough*Steve, get to it;)*cough*, then I could help with this cleanup thingy.

i find this a true disaster for the forums to get into such a state that some posts/thread have to be deleted...i think i will help out and go back to all my earlier posts and delete them..

i have found that alot of the new(er) members have been making these useless posts and i think that a moderator (preferably ramprage) should make a Thread...announcement even about the guidelines and what are the consiquences of these being dissobeyed

well thats my bit
later...

You say it like it's my fault..I didn't ask ramprage to do a cleanup..I recognized it needed to be done, so blind helped me..all there is to it..

well thankyou edd for that nice compliment, but i happen to think that i dont post alot of useless posts anymore and would apprechiate it if you would not go on about how many posts ar how 'crap' my posts are, i have tried to clean up my act and not post to many 'crap' posts anymore,
i would like it very much if you wouldnt post useless posts just to wind people up...i have had enough of people having a 'go' at me, especially you because come on man you havnt really contributed to making helpful posts,
but in only not doing that you have not listened to any of the posts and gone through and spoken your little mouth again about people that shouldn and wouldnt want you to do it...

Nothing is nobody's "fault". I've just always had account problems ever since this new Message Board was made. At first, I couldn't even login, then when I finally did, I didn't have my powers. But at last, everything is all well in The Turtle Camp.

I wonder if the site will now improve due to all these changes etc. they only thing i am worrying about is the fact that alot of the not so well members have not acknoleged this by replying etc. and i just think without there co-operation during this time, this theory of cleaning out the forums will come as a big shock to them and they will get annoyed due to post deletion...i just think that we need to try and get some of them in here and see what they have to say for themselves and see if they change after the effects of this movement...

If their post is being deleted, or anyone's post for that matter, then it is useless. If they're annoyed at useless posts' being deleted then all I have to say is "what's wrong with them?". No one on ramprage.com is stupid...no one. Some people talk fine in person, and on ramprage, do not use correct spelling, or have trouble getting their point across. If they can't get their point across correctly, it's seen as a useless post. It's not their fault, but it's just a fact. I've deleted a few of my own posts', because they were useless. Does anyone remember 'Avatar page? Yes? No?'...that was useless. I shouldn't have posted it honestly....I'll freely admit I've made a few useless thread/posts'. It's very easy to confuse a useless post with a short post. I have a few one line posts' that contain text such as "nice one...I like it...."....that's not useless, because there's not more to say sometimes.

Note: The avatar page, I am still unsure about...

When you tell people to **** off and such, I consider that a good reason to close the thread, or delete it. Don't deny it...

Edit: Oh, and I've warned you THREE times about your language and treatment of other members on ramprage....remember that.

Hey would a page limit work better?

blind
07-21-2002, 07:22 AM
No, because then if someone had something important to say, and couldn't post it because of the a page limit, they would need to make a thread stated their oppion, which would be a waste of space. Plus some threads are can gone on for a loong time, but they aren't meaningless at all. And finally, it would make it harder for us mods. to keep up with all the threads.

four or five pages should be enough for any soapbox.

You might already have it written somewhere but do you have like a
ramprage rules of engagement.
What ramprage considers as useless?
Im not saying fun....useless. you should have a couple of hardcore staples to moderate by and let all your members know. Im sure a mass email should be ez enough.

Snaker

Some guidelines could be needed, case in point skate_boy, and I think giudelines would be appreciated by most everybody, too.

Now we have them. I made a thread posting the forum rules in the section "The Lobby" - "General".
