Longboards vs. the regs

Alright, so Im pretty much trying to gather up info as I go since im a skating newb.

Longboard skating versus reguler boards... what are the pros and cons here?

Longboarding is mainly for bombing hills and skateboarding is for doing tricks. It depends on what you want to do.

Longboarding is realy like Surfing on land. Going on a longboard is a complelty diffrent experience when your flying down hills, or slaloming then when your busting tricks boarding.

Well, surprised no one said this: Longboards are a much smoother ride, they're a lot of fun on flat or hills, too. And way less frustrating than regular skating. Regular boards are rougher, but you can do tricks and junk, and when you land that trick that's been tormenting you for months it's like an orgasm.

yea so basically longboarding is just cruising around relaxing you know stuff like that. And regular boards is doing tricks

long boards can get SUPER FAST if u just go down a hill without doing any carving thingys

Shortboarding is like snowboarding

ummm if shortboards means skateboards then no it doesn't feel like snowboarding...at all

Actually longboarding feels more like snowboarding then surfing to me. Shortboarding is it's own thing. It doesn't really feel like any other board sport.

nvm but vert shortboarding is more like vert snowboarding, with all the tricks, and carving on longboards is like surfing.

Whats more like surfing is waveboarding which are lots of fun

although longboarding is compared to surfing i dont find anything alike in them. like rustyburrito said longboarding is like snowboarding. trick skating is actually more like surfing, finding a spot to do a trick is like surfers waiting for a wave to ride although surfers wont be flipping a surfboard i dont think.
