ok, this how it goes, i'm 13, sk8'n for 3 years, and i need to get sponered!!(like everyone esle) but, i'm not like "other" people, from what my friends say. i don't knoe why, is it becasue i learned how to ollie, kicflip, casper, & 180 on my own?(thats all within my first year) now look at me, boards crak every month to month and a half, if i'm lucky every two months! i always entertain local kids at parks with my faltland, and ollieing over them, and one time i got paied, but i can't just keep on doing this with out getting any respect form sk8 shops. yes, i made a sponcer videos, one, and they didn't take my video... what can i do?? what are shops looking for???

Shops aren't looking for flatland thats for sure. Do some lines, do some stairs, maybe a handrail or two, show some style. Dont spell skate like sk8.

I would say, get some sweet footy, but you're only 13. You may not be as good as you think, and you don't need the sponsorship yet.

I'm not saying you suck or anything like that. I'm just saying that the chance of you getting sponsored by an actual company is slim. It's kinda like the lottery, millions of people play but only one wins each time. But with skating there are millions of people who want to be sponsored but never do. Some are great skaters some arn't. Just don't worry about getting sponsored. If you are really serious about getting sponsored and think you have a shot. You need to ask yourself, "Why should *insert company* sponsor me? What do I have to offer them?"

ive learned how to 360 flip on my my own and ive only been skatin for 8 months.but like seana says things like 3 flip and stuff arent goin to get ya sponsered, skate a couple more years if you really get good then try to get sponsered. im 13 too and i dont think ill get sponcered till im like 18 if even that

Being sponsored could only make skateboarding better. Don't kid yourselves guys. Sponsorship is great. You get free shit, you get to skate with some of the best skaters in the world, you get to travel and skate different places. Of course there might come more responsibility with sponsorship, but you get to skate for a living.

Anyways yeah like alot of people said just skate now for the fun of it. I break boards all the time it would be very nice if I got some help with that department.

that is NOT impressive for a year, no offense intended. ive been skating 7 months.i can fs and bs 180 ollie,ollie,kickflip,varial flip, bs flip, boardslide a 2 set hand rail,kickflip a 2 set, ollie a 4 set,fs pop shove it, bs pop shove it, no comply impossible, cabalerial and 360 flip(when i concentrate extremelyyyyy hard) and thats just the stuff poppin to mind, and i havent the SLIGHTEST chance of being sponsored so i wouldnt waste my time if i were you.

its a very small/short hand rail, i dont think it can even be used for a handrail..

a handrail outside a retirement home.they have little slopes for wheel chairs too that can be used like a flat bank ;)

When I was in 6th grade, (making me 10-11ish) I would ollie this 8 set infront of my school in the mornings. I could kickflip 5 stairs and other stuff around that level. I was olliing drops taht were alot taller than me. I always imagined how people could live their life day to day without skating. Then I quit :(. Now, 5 years later I suck again and have no care in the world about being sponsored. Back in the day, sure thats what I wanted. I talked to the guys at the skate shops and they said I had a good chance. Maybe that was just to comfort me that I sucked but they seemed serious. Especcially cause they sponsered a kid by 3 companies and I was better than him. But dude, check yourself. Why do you skate? I skated back then to be better than other people and to get attention. And now that I suck again, its put me back in check. I realize now that I skate for fun. Sure a sponsor could enhance my skating expierence but for now, theres no worry. If youre good, the sponsors will come to you. Thats what happend to the kid at my town. One shop rider saw him, suggested him. That shop suggested Osiris to sponsor him and now he gets all their new shoes every month.

If you just skate for fun, and not try too much on being sponcered, if you think and try too much, you go down the drain. This goes with all things in life, especially sports. Have fun and keep skateing!

Maybe its just me, but all this hype about getting sponsored is just plain dumb. If I ever get sponsored, it will be because they offered me.

Though I doubt that will ever happen as I can only progress flatland. I catch myself trying inward heelflips while I can't even boardslide a handrail. The closest decent staircase with a decent handrail is in Manhatten, two hours away. Maybe I'll win a respectable game of SKATE someday...?
